The story behind BLT.
Some years ago we wanted to offer hot take away food to our customers. The problem was, we would require an entire kitchen fitting in Bailey's Trading Post. This in itself raised a whole host of problems and made the project extremely difficult and costly.
It was whilst discussing the issue with a mate in the pub one night that he offered a solution..."why don't you convert one of them old horse boxes into a catering trailer?".
Over the following months we'd revisit the idea over a pint or six.
Im not sure if it was the b**r but I became more and more convinced it might just work!
Fast forward to 2024, not only had it been decided to get a catering trailer but it was decided if we was going to do it then we would do it properly and we'd commission a purpose built trailer.
We submitted planning permission for change of use and to site the trailer on the premises. Once passed we set about seeking a suitable trailer.
We put the word out to our vast network of contacts that we were looking for an old Rice Horse trailer. Sure enough, one of our contacts came through. Trailer bought and our contact even transported to Poynton. Reports of some shady late night deal going down outside the Wool shop circulated. It was us taking our first look at the trailer. Our contact had bought it at a farmers market for us so we'd not seen it before purchasing π.
We had been recommended a guy to convert it. We was told he's good, like REALLY good but, always busy! He'd even turned down building a campervan for Johnny Vegas and his Field of Dreams tv series. He agreed to do it π.
Following a number of delays finally the build was completed!
Finally it was then transported back over to Poynton where it was taken to Horizon for prep' and 2k spray job.
The photo shows how the trailer looked when we first got it!
