There are lots of little things around Pint-Sized Playhouse that have been carefully considered from an early years perspective. From the way our spaces are set up, to the objects we use and the freedom we give children to explore.

You might just see a play café. I see endless opportunities for children to experiment, discover, build confidence and learn through play!

Let toddlers paint what they see, but let them do it their own way. Instead of worrying about making a perfect copy, focus on the fun of looking at objects and playing with the paint.

Here is how you can break it down:
• Look closely: Put a simple object (like an apple or a flower) in front of them to notice its shapes and colours.
• Explore freely: Let them experiment with the brushes, textures, and mixing colours without correcting the final result.

Join us this Saturday 10th October for fun and games and PIZZA from the amazing team Kotch Pizza 🍕

🕙 Open 10am–5pm, with pizza from 11am until sold out

🎟️ £5 per child
👶 £2 for each additional sibling
🍼 Under 6 months go free
🙋 Adults go free

There'll be toys and activities for babies right up to 5–6 year olds, plus our Toddler Tapas. The weather's looking dry so far ☀️

What a month!

Looking back at everything that’s happened at Pint-Sized Playhouse, I’m feeling very, very grateful.

So many little moments of children playing, creating, exploring, dancing, getting messy, making friends and just being themselves.

We’ve had pop-ups, music, new faces, familiar faces, lots of laughter… and somehow another month has flown by!

Thank you to everyone who has walked through our doors, shared a post, recommended us to a friend, or simply supported this little business in any way.

It really does mean the world.

Here’s to another month of play, creativity, community and plenty of happy chaos!

A little bit of love for our local community 💚

We’ve teamed up with Forest Gate Against Racism, a grassroots movement here in Forest Gate working to celebrate diversity and stand against racism.

We’ve got a limited number of their posters available, so if you’d like one for your home, come and grab one while stocks last. You can pick one up from our bar whenever you’re visiting for a Ciderhouse event or a Pint-Sized Playhouse session. 💚

If this is your kind of play… you’re in the right place.

Trying things out and seeing where their ideas take them.

As an early years teacher, I’ve always valued child-led play because children learn so much when they’re given the freedom to explore rather than being shown exactly what to make.

At Pint-Sized Playhouse, creativity isn’t about making something “perfect”. It’s about curiosity, independence, problem-solving, imagination and having the confidence to think, “I wonder what happens if I try this…”

Sometimes it’s painting. Sometimes it’s sticking, squishing, mixing, building or making a complete mess 😂

We’re a parent-led play café, so there’s no need to book — just turn up and come and play.
🧸 £5 per child
👶 Under 6 months are free
👩‍🦰 Adults are free
⏰ No time limit — stay as long as you like
☕️ Grab a coffee, something to eat and let the little ones get stuck into the play.

Our space and activities are designed by a qualified early years teacher, with different areas for different stages of play — including a dedicated space for little ones who aren’t walking yet.

And because we’re drop-in, you don’t have to plan your whole day around us. Come for an hour, stay for three… whatever works for you.

The best presents come from tiny hands.

This leaf was chosen, carried and gifted to me by one of our little regulars today. To a grown-up it's a leaf. To a child, it's treasure, and they wanted to share it with me.

Those moments of noticing, collecting and giving are what childhood is all about. Feeling very lucky today 🧡🍁
