This weeks top picks from our nutritionist : Female Health Edition ❤️

“1. Chicken Tinga + Quinoa

It was PCOS awareness month in September and many people with PCOS suffer insulin sensitivity so opting for moderate carbohydrates, lower sugar and higher in protein and healthy fats can help.

This delicious balanced meal, is high in protein, a source of fibre with a whopping 15g per portion (this is half your daily requirements in one meal!) low in saturated fat, low in sugar, has 2 of your 5 a day but also packs in 10 plant points with all the different veg, beans, grains, herbs and spices!

Also did you know, Quinoa is actually a seed? Providing a good source of calcium, magnesium, zinc and iron, all of which can contribute to a healthy cycle

2. Beef Bibimbap

A low in saturated fat beef option is always a win for me! This meal is high in protein, a source of fibre and low in sugar.

Whilst you should ideally not eat red meat every day, it is an excellent source of many nutrients and particularly high in iron, which is particularly important for womens cycle health and replenishing lost iron. Paired with high vitamin C peppers, helps you to absorb the iron in the beef!


3. Tofu Bibimbap

The vegan alternative, did you know tofu is a great source of vegan protein and also provides essential nutrients like calcium making it a great alternative when you’re avoiding things like dairy?

Ensuring you have enough calcium throughout the month can help reduce PMS”

Our Yakitori recipe is back with a twist this week! 👩‍🍳

Now available with either chicken or tofu, served on a bed of jasmine rice with roasted broccoli and edamame plus a deliciously refreshing sunomono salad.

Each week on a Thursday morning we collectively consider next week’s A La Carte menu. 🤔 (link in bio for this weeks!)

Through a business lens, by now this process should be automated - on a repeating cycle, saving time, saving effort.

But it’s not - because we’re Chefs, not robots. 👩‍🍳

We cycle our recipes regularly, but we like to keep things interesting. Some of our customers like to order just on a Monday or just on a Wednesday - so we’d like them to experience our full selection by moving things around regularly.

We check to make sure there’s enough variety for various different customer preferences - vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free - could each of these type of customers order enough variety from this menu this week?

Is there enough variety across different cuisines this week? Are there enough different vegetables to really nourish our customers across the week? Plenty of variety of carb and protein sources? We think about it all!

Sometimes we want to take something off the menu for a while to tweak it fully. Maybe the main component is great but we’re not loving the accompanying sides.

We like to adjust to customer feedback and how popular things are. We tweak things if there is a more seasonal option we can utilise, if our nutritionist consultant has flagged any tweaks to make a recipe even better for you. Or even if we are simply feeling inspired!

We also have to make sure our menu is possible to cook from our kitchen! We’re a small, dynamic business - so there’s definitely limitations to our space and what we can physically cook, cool and pack for you in one day.

So all in all there’s a lot to consider, and we consider it thoroughly to make sure we can deliver the best possible experience every time!

We’re Chef led and always will be - so you can trust us to take care of mealtimes with your best interests at heart. ❤️

The only decision we’ll leave you to make, is which delicious healthy meal you fancy for dinner! 😋

Welcome back! 👋

After a short break over Christmas it’s so nice to welcome back so many of our long-term customers and plenty of brand new names this week!

We’ve had a very busy start to the week and it’s only Tuesday 😮‍💨

We maintained our fabulous 5 start hygiene rating in our spot check this week, and we’re currently recruiting for another Chef which means we get to meet lots of lovely Chefs through our trials.

Our nutritionist Hannah will also be stopping by the kitchen to help us develop some brand new packages for our A La Carte Menus, and it’s all business for me working closely with our accountant and business analyst to help map out some exciting plans for the year ahead.

I don’t know about you but I can perhaps be guilty of being overambitious at the start of a year? I’ve set some big goals both personally and for the company and I’d love to return to sharing more recipes, healthy eating tips and some business insight too this year so if you’d like to see more of that keep your eyes peeled.

Of course, it’s also pretty cold in our kitchen this week so it’s absolutely perfect timing to cook one of my favourite winter warmer recipes - Beef Goulash. We’ll be making this tomorrow - a slow cooked recipe with tender beef, peppers, carrots and tomatoes which we pair with smokey paprika potatoes, braised cabbage and a pot of parsley creme fraiche for you to stir in just before you tuck in.

We’re back in the kitchen today, cooking up a delicious feast of Burrito Bowls, Lemon & Parmesan Linguine and Saag Chicken / Halloumi! 😋

Today we’re also cooking our Salsa Verde Salmon, with garlic roasted potatoes and braised cabbage. This recipe is our Nutritionist’s Top Pick!

says ‘Salmon is a power house protein source and packed with healthy fats. We should be aiming to have oily fish such as salmon a couple of times a week, due to the Omega 3 it contains which is anti-inflammaroty and essential for brain health.

In addition to this, potatoes get a bad reputation but they’re actually the most satiating carbohydrate, full of nutrients such as iodine, vitamin C and fibre. In fact because by the time you get these potatoes they’ve been cooked and cooled down, they’re higher in resistant starch which feeds the good bacteria in our guts.’

What a year! 🥳 We’re ramping up for our final menu before a Christmas break, and thought we’d have a little fun reflecting on 2024!

We’ll be closing just for the week of Christmas, and you’ve still got time to order for Wednesday 18th should you need your Chef Jen fix! 👩‍🍳

Back open on Monday 30th so we can start the New Year together strong and healthy 💪 and with delicious food!

Next week is our last week before a Christmas break, so don’t miss out on your final Chef Jen delivery of nutritious, delicious meals! 🥰

We’ve got a festive special, our Turkey Keema made with our freshly roasted and ground spice blend, a curry leaf temper, brown rice and spiced vegetables.

Our slow cooked tender Beef Bourguignon also makes a return served with our parsnip mash, and your absolute favourite recipe - our Beef & Mushroom Ragu! Perfect for freezing, so stock up on a few extras if you’ll be missing us over Christmas break!

We will be back with another menu on 30th December, so you can start your year off on the best foot! ❤️

🌟 little roundup from our kitchen this week….

We’ve cooked each other some delicious team lunches this week! From fresh gluten free flatbreads with comforting red lentil daal, to spiced chicken wings, wedges and charred corn slaw with sour cream. I went for Indian spiced tacos with a tomato & mango chutney, pickled cabbage and raita and we ended with a baked chickpea and crispy chicken skin salad with peanut and lime sauce. 😮🥰

Most importantly, a clients have been very well fed too! This week’s menu was my favourite of the year, with our two of our most popular signature dishes - our bibimbap and our Sichuan noodles!

Next week’s menu is live 🥳 It’s fun for our Chefs just as much as it is for our customers, changing our menus each week!

This week we’re cooking some of our most popular recipes for you, as well as a delicious new Salmon recipe with Italian inspired caponata, roasted potatoes and a pot of our moreish salsa verde sauce. 😋

Order before 5pm Sunday, and we’ll deliver to you on Monday night and take care of your mealtimes for the rest of the week!

If you need a half term hero to save you a job next week, we’ll be very happy to help 👩‍🍳

Just a few of this week’s healthy menu highlights to look forward to! 👀

Pictured above is our Sweet + Sour Chicken / Tofu. Our take away inspired recipe with a healthier twist. We make our sauce with fresh orange juice for sweetness, our chicken/tofu is oven-baked and we serve this with an abundance of baby corn, peppers, broccoli + cherry tomatoes.

You can also look forward to our Chicken & Prawn Paella (made with orzo for a little twist!) topped with a crumble of tangy feta, fresh lemon and parsley.

Finally, get your hands on our Lamb Keema, made with our own freshly toasted spice blend and served alongside a delicious vegetable pulao.

This week we are excited to have 6 vegetarian options on our menu, each with at least 25g of protein per serving! I love to enjoy a couple of vegetarian meals per week to add extra variety into my diet.

Get your order in before 5pm tonight, for delivery tomorrow evening! 👀
