Juicy prawns and chewy udon noodles, tossed with garlic, butter and my own homemade sauce for a rich, savoury flavour. 😋

Something spooky has taken over Kaya Nori… 👻🎃

Well… I tried to make it scary, but I think it turned out more cute than terrifying. 😂💜

A few little monsters have moved in, the spiders are taking over, and apparently it’s now an ENTER IF YOU DARE situation. 🕷️👀

Halloween has officially arrived at my little takeaway! 🎃

And a little reminder - Kaya Nori is open tonight, but closed tomorrow (Monday) for my usual day off.

I’ll be back on Tuesday, with something new coming to the menu too! 👀🍱

🍣🎂 A Strange Request… and a Little Kaya Nori Adventure! 👀

A little while ago, a customer messaged me with a question…

“Could I make a strange request?” 🤭

Her daughter was turning 18, absolutely loved our food, and she wanted to surprise her with something a little different.

A birthday cake… made entirely of SUSHI! 🍣🎂

Now, I’d never made one before. But honestly? I do love a good challenge! 😂💪

So, a little experimenting, plenty of sushi rolling, and a bit of creativity later…

✨ TA-DA! Our very first Sushi Cake!

And the best part? The customer loved it even more than she’d expected! 🥹🧡

That’s something I really love about running Kaya Nori.

Not every good idea has to start on a menu. 💡

Sometimes, it starts with someone asking, “Do you think you could make this?”

And honestly? I love finding out! 😂

🍛 Behind the Bites | EP. 01 - Japanese Curry

It starts with the gentle sizzle of onions, slowly releasing their natural sweetness. 🧅

🥔 Potatoes and carrots join the pan, followed by our homemade curry base and Japanese curry roux.

Slowly, everything melts into a rich, velvety sauce - deeply savoury, gently sweet, and full of warmth. ✨

🧡 No overpowering onion flavour. Just its sweetness, beautifully blended into every spoonful.

🥕 And the carrots? Even I don’t usually like them, but somehow, they taste wonderful in this curry!

Pour that golden sauce over fluffy rice… 🍚

One spoonful, and you’ll understand why it’s already become a customer favourite. 🤤

From this week, Mondays will normally be my day off 💛

So Kaya Nori will be closed tomorrow, and I’ll be back open as usual on Tuesday 😊

If anything changes from week to week, I’ll always post an update here.

And tomorrow I finally get to enjoy a little bit of Houghton Feast myself too 🎆😂
