🥂 Why the change to Toast & Tonic?
A few people have asked why we changed our name and what Toast & Tonic means, so we wanted to share the story behind it.
When we first opened, we wanted to be a place people could enjoy from morning through to evening — from breakfast and coffee to dinner, drinks and entertainment. However, because we were originally known as a kids’ café, many people continued to label us that way, even after we moved and changed our name.
Unfortunately, that perception made it difficult for our evening offering to take off. We wanted to welcome families during the day while also creating a relaxed space for adults in the evening, but we never became as busy at night as we needed to be.
The reality is that we had to make a change to survive. Hospitality is a cutthroat industry, and businesses around us are closing every day. We love what we have created and want to continue being part of this community, so evolving the business and introducing Toast & Tonic felt like the right step forward.
“Toast” is about raising a glass together — celebrating friendships, special occasions and those everyday moments that deserve a little cheers.
“Tonic” is that feel-good lift you get from good company, a lovely meal, a laugh and taking some time to enjoy life. 💚
We’re still the same team, with the same care and passion, but we’re creating a clearer identity that reflects everything we want to offer — not just a kids’ café.
From breakfast and coffee to lunch, dinner and sharing boards, from a relaxed catch-up to cocktails, shuffleboard and singing your heart out in karaoke — there’s room for it all here.
