Hundred House Coffee

Hundred House Coffee A roastery grounded in art, music and community. We focus on expressive, carefully sourced coffees, roasted with knowledge for a balanced cup.

Supporting the arts through industry, one bag at a time with a creative cowork and Riso imprint on site. We love good coffee. Buying direct from farmers all around the world, our coffee is some of the finest and freshly roasted in the UK, produced from our micro-roastery in the Shropshire Hills. Our scope is simple. Source the best coffee from small holds around the world, sample and develop the roast in response to the unique flavours and aromas.

The last five years have been a little rollercoaster. Lockdown; having our little boy, Rémi. Building a business whilst learning how to be parents. Incredible highs, plenty of challenges, and more than a few moments where we worked things out as we went along, often with R strapped to our backs.

We built a new roastery in Ludlow, set up .at and weathered a period of sustained online trolling that, at times, felt all-consuming. Looking back, it taught us to keep our eyes on the work, the people around us, the reasons we started, and the community that showed up for us. Then came the decision to move to St Leonards. Simply to live and work in a place that offered more of what resonated with us as individuals. More culture, creativity and opportunities to connect coffee, art and community.

What we didn’t leave behind was Ludlow. It remains our mothership. The place where Hundred House found its footing, where much of our story has been written, and where we have a strong and beautiful community around us. Years ago, through .at, we talked about creating a bridge between rural and urban life; between different ways of living, making and thinking. What feels exciting now is that this is no longer just an idea, it’s something we live every day as a team, moving between these two places and drawing energy from both.

Last week we opened our doors in St Leonards. It felt good, not because it marked a new beginning, but because it felt like a continuation of what we’ve been building towards. We were welcomed with open and generous arms, and it was a reminder of the value of embedding yourself in a place and becoming part of its fabric.

As we settle into this next chapter, we’re drawn back to the foundations on which Hundred House was built: sourcing, relationships, detail, quality and curiosity; the slow work and meaningful work; the things that excited us when we started nearly ten years ago, and the things that continue to inspire us today. It’s so easy to get sucked into growth as doing more, instead of creating space to return to what matters most.

We’re excited to be kicking off Nom Nom Coffee Club this summer.

Come and cup outstanding speciality coffees from international roasters with the Hundred House team. Learn how to distinguish flavour notes, different roast profiles, origins and farmer processes.

First session on 12 July, 2.30pm
45-46 Kings Rd, St Leonards, Saint Leonards-on-Sea TN37 6DY

We started this club a few years back originally called Sabado Coffee Club and we’re so pleased to be relaunching under Nom Nom - sharing our passion for great farmers and roasters and bringing together fellow speciality coffee lovers.

This is a free event and no experience needed. Link in homepage to sign up - spaces are limited.

Getting inspiration from some of our previous Freak & Unique drops as we build towards the next releases under the new branding…

Over the last two years, created an incredibly beautiful body of work for the series, bringing to life the producers, processes and stories behind some of our most expressive coffees. Every detail carried the same sense of experimentation, texture and character that drew us to the coffees in the first place.

Watch this space — a new double Freak & Unique release lands in June.

Looking for tunes to while away the bank holiday? Head to our music page – link in bio – where we’ve amassed a growing archive of lovely vinyl mixes by Matt.

Usually heard downstairs .at Ludlow – our dreamy rural listening bar – soon to be soundtracking days through the Klipsch Cornwalls at the St Leonard's roastery.

Coffee sandwiched between music and art. How we’ve lived it for the last 10 years.
