Live music tonight and Sunday roasts this weekend 🎶

We’ve got a great weekend lined up at The Lion.

Tonight, Exposé will be playing live from 9pm, so come down, grab a drink and enjoy a brilliant night of live music with us.

Then on Sunday, we’ll be serving our Sunday roasts from 12pm–6pm, with all the trimmings. Take a look at the menu and see what takes your fancy... a kids menu will also be available.

LIVE MUSIC THIS FRIDAY 🎶

We’re excited to welcome Exposé to The Lion this Friday 2nd October from 9pm!

We know how many of you have been looking forward to this one, so we’re really pleased to be honouring the booking and welcoming the band in for what should be a brilliant night.

Come down, grab a drink and enjoy some live music with us. 🍻

Going forward, we’ll be hosting live music on Saturdays and Sundays. We’re really supportive of the fantastic Friday band nights already happening locally at The Drum and have no intention of competing with them, we think there’s plenty of room for great live music across the village.

For now though, we can’t wait to see you this Friday!

Meet Emma 👋

Hi, I’m Emma.

I grew up in Spain but have called the UK home for the past 23 years. I now live in Coggeshall with Andy, and our three children

For the past two and a half years I’ve been working in the village, and during that time I’ve really fallen in love with the community and everything that makes this area so special.

I’ve always enjoyed good pub grub - there’s nothing better than a proper, comforting pub meal, but I’ll always have a huge love for the food I grew up with in Spain. So I’m really excited to bring a little bit of that Spanish influence to The Lion, while still keeping all the things we love about a great British local pub.

WHAT A FIRST WEEKEND! 🍻

A huge thank you to everyone who came down to see us over our opening weekend. The support has been amazing and it’s been brilliant to finally have the doors open and welcome so many of you into The Lion.

For the time being, we’ll still be operating on slightly reduced opening hours while we continue working behind the scenes, getting the pub looking exactly how we want it and settling into our new routine.

This week’s opening hours:

Monday – Closed
Tuesday – Closed

Wednesday – 4pm–11pm
🍻 Drinks only

Thursday – 12pm –1 1pm
Food served 12pm – 2:30pm & 5:30pm – 8:30pm

Friday – 12pm – 12am
Food served 12pm–2:30pm & 5:30pm–8:30pm

Saturday – 12pm – 12am
Food served 12pm – 2:30pm & 5:30pm – 8:30pm

There’s still plenty more to come at The Lion, and we really appreciate everyone bearing with us while we get everything up and running.

Excellent entertainment from The Guv’nors today, a brilliant way to spend our first weekend open.

We’re open until 1am tonight, so if you’re not ready for the weekend to end just yet, come down and join us.

We’ll be back open tomorrow from 12pm–8pm, serving our delicious wood-fired pizzas throughout the day.

We’re excited to welcome The Guv’nors to The Lion this Saturday for an afternoon of live music from 2:30pm.

They’ll be the first live act to play since we opened our doors, so we’d love for you to come down, show your support and help us make it a great afternoon.
