A huge welcome to Howlin' Mat hailing from North Yorkshire. He is in the area for a short while and will be treating us to an evening of his music

This week (Thursday) is also the start of Castel Roc, a wonderful summer 'festival' for the Chepstow music scene, for a few weekends through August
Do pop along to the castle for a gig or two and help support live music in our community.
Tonight they kick off with Hayseed Dixie!

If you want to hear the music but can't cope with the crowds - something I am occasionally guilty of - you can hear it perfectly from the beer garden.

You may have noticed over the past few weeks there is a baby seagull outside the pub. He has been there for some time now and he likes to hold one of his wings like its broken. He is absolutely fine! He can fly short distances but as the neighbours keep feeding him he likes it where he is. The lovely man from the council who waters the hanging baskets also fills up his giant water bowl a couple times a day so he is well looked after.

And now it seems the pub is turning into a wildlife reserve. We have had a visitor in the back garden the past couple of days. A lovely little hedgehog. Keeping Nixie away from it has been a challenge!
