What’s it got to do with the price of fish? 🐟 Actually, quite a lot! We have always been about more than just great food; we’re about our local community. To keep serving you the quality you love while staying true to our values, we need to talk openly about why our prices are changing. The cost of cod has hit record highs. Due to a 200% surge in wholesale prices over the last two years, driven by massive quota cuts and global shortages the 45lb box of fish that cost us £110 now costs up to £330.
We do things differently because we believe in giving back:
Convenience for You: We aren’t a cash-only business. We accept all major cards and contactless payments because we want to make life easier for you.
Investing in Our Youth: Unlike shops that only employ their own family members, we open our doors to the whole community. We are proud to employ your sons, your daughters, and your neighbours, providing vital first jobs and local opportunities.
Ethical Employment: We’ve increased wages to ensure our team can support their own families during this cost-of-living crisis. When you buy from us, you’re keeping local people in jobs and supporting a business that cares about everyone’s future.
We want to keep the tradition of a local fish & chip shop alive for everyone and here’s how we’re working hard to make things affordable for you:
The “Local” Alternative: Try our fresh Hake or Po***ck, they’re just as tasty, more sustainable, and much lighter on your wallet.
Kids & Senior Portions: New size-appropriate meals, so you only pay for what you need.
Family Value Deals: Keep an eye out for our mid-week bundles and offers.
We’re more than a chip-shop; we’re local, an intrinsic part of the fabric of your community.
Thank you for sticking with us, supporting local jobs, and understanding that the “price of fish” is about keeping our entire community thriving.
