Fish Tales Restaurant Bar

Fish Tales Restaurant Bar Fish Tales brings the freshest seafood, and local ingredients, handcrafted cocktails, and a warm coastal vibe to the historic Clifton village in Bristol.

From classic fish dishes to drinks with friends, every visit is a story worth sharing. 🦞🍸 New Moon Café is an independent tapas restaurant or tastaurant) located at 9 The Mall, Clifton. A family run establishment, the New Moon exudes a warm, welcoming atmosphere, quality drink, and, perhaps above all, wonderful food. Enthusiastic owner and chef TK tested this formula successfully at his previous s

pace on the Gloucester Rd, winning great reviews and loyal customers, before making the positive decision to move to the heart of Clifton in early 2015. As a chef, TK has spent over twenty years cooking in different countries, hotels, clubs, and restaurants, as well as holding a head-chef position in Chelsea, London. His latest venture is the result of this exciting, and still flourishing, learning experience. The tapas dishes on offer utilise the best of what local producers, and the ever-changing seasons, have to offer, and this menu is always available. Alongside this, however, runs a very different kind of specials board. Every fortnight, TK explores a different country's cuisine and produces a unique interpretation of their most loved, and iconic dishes. This makes for an evocative, and always delicious, dinner. But, if you aren't in the market for either of these, feel free to pop in for a full English breakfast or our home-made burgers. What we're trying to say is, you are all welcome! So pop in any time, or even book New Moon Café for your special occasions; we love to party! Whoever you are, though, we will always strive to make your visit one to remember. We hope to see you soon.

🍷Wine Wednesday🍷

This week the spotlight is on three very special new wines we have added to our wine list:

🇫🇷 Muscadet Côtes de Grandlieu, Domaine Herbauges.
Crisp, saline and citrus-led with a gentle roundness from time spent aging on its lees, giving it that subtle texture and freshness that makes it an absolute dream with seafood.

🇦🇹 Funkstille Riesling, Austria
Bright, zippy and mineral with lime, green apple and a touch of white peach. It comes from Niederösterreich, one of Austria’s top regions for Riesling, where the cool climate keeps that razor-sharp freshness that everybody loves.

🇷🇴 Orange Solara 2024, Romania
A proper skin-contact orange with soft tannins, dried apricot, citrus peel and a gently herbal edge. It’s made from local Romanian grapes you don’t see every day, which is part of what makes it feel a bit special - familiar, but certainly not predictable.

Three new bottles, all worth a try. 🍾

Malcolm Golding has been painting for us for a while and every time he comes in he picks up on something new.

This time it became this—
oysters, champagne, a couple… the kind of moments we see every day here.

His work lives in the Shangri-La Hong Kong and has been on the cover of National Geographic, now bringing his vision to our space

🍷WINE WEDNESDAY🍷

Our spotlight wine this week is the Domaine Herbauges Muscadet Côtes de Grandlieu “La Roche Blanche” 2024.

Grown near Lake Grand-Lieu and the Atlantic, it’s bright, zesty and gently saline. Côtes de Grandlieu is the smallest Muscadet appellation, and Domaine Herbauges is known for sustainable farming and beautifully pure, expressive wines.

This wine is left to rest on its fine lees (the natural yeast sediment) for 8-14 months after fermentation. This adds texture and a natural roundness without using oak. During ageing, the winemakers occasionally stir the lees, which helps release flavour compounds and proteins from the yeast. This technique is known as bâtonnage. This gives the wine a silky feel, more depth, and enhanced complexity, while still keeping Muscadet’s classic crisp, mineral style.

If there’s a wine made for our menu, it’s this one. Its crisp acidity and delicate minerality cut through the richness of our cod grenobloise or Cornish brill with hollandaise, while the slight creaminess added from sur lie ageing complements the fish perfectly.

Swing by this week to see why this one is our current favourite, and to check out our other wine specials! 🐟
