A little look at what we’re actually creating at crust ⓚ. 👀

If you’ve been following the build, you’ve seen it stripped right back and slowly start coming together. Now you can see where everything is actually going.

The bar, open kitchen, seating and the rest of the space are finally starting to take shape.

There’s still plenty happening behind the scenes, but it’s getting easier to picture the place we’ve had in our heads from the beginning.

This must be the place.🤝🏼

Apparently being the owner doesn’t mean you automatically get the job… 👀

After introducing Amelia, she thought it was only fair to ask me a few questions before she officially makes the move from crust Norton to crust ⓚ.

The food, the plans, what we’re actually trying to create here, and whether I know what I’m doing. 😂
Safe to say, the interview went well.

I think I’m in. 🤝🏼

this must be the place. that’s the idea anyway.

The kind of place you come for a coffee and stay for something to eat. Meet friends, bring the family, grab a drink, fill the table and stay a little longer than you planned.

Somewhere that feels just as good on a random Thursday as it does for an occasion.

We’ve got a fair bit of work to do before we get there, but that’s what we’re building towards.

crust ⓚ, Billingham Beck. Coming soon.

Meet Amelia 👋🏼
A familiar face to plenty of our crust customers, but in a very different setting.

Amelia is our daughter and has been part of this journey from the beginning, from working alongside me on the pizza van right here at Billingham Beck, to crust Norton, and now joining crust ⓚ as our Front of House Manager.

From serving pizzas out of a van to welcoming you into our own restaurant in the same place… it feels pretty full circle. 🍕
crust has always been a family business, so having Amelia be such a big part of this next chapter makes it even more special.

And judging by how comfortable she is in front of the camera, I have a feeling you’ll be seeing plenty more of her before we open. 😂

From what it is, to what it could be. 👀

We’ve shared plenty of the renovation so far, but this is the part we’ve had in our heads from the very beginning.

When we first viewed the building back in September, we started sketching, planning and imagining what this place could become.
Nearly a year later, those ideas are finally starting to take shape.

This is our vision for crust ⓚ - doors opened up, outdoor seating and a warm, relaxed space. Somewhere to pop in for a coffee, meet friends over good food, or settle in for drinks and make a night of it.

There’s still a lot of work between what it is and what it could be, and no doubt a few things will change along the way… but it’s starting to feel a little more real. 🌿

What do you think? 👀

There’s a lot you learn when you decide to take on a restaurant renovation yourself. 😂

So, five things I’ve learnt along the way that have genuinely been worth it while building crust ⓚ.

A little insight into the side of the build you don’t always see. 👀

Operation Pizza Oven 🍕 Two tonnes of pizza oven, a tractor and a plan that definitely looked easier on paper. 😂

After all the drama in Episode 6, it was finally time to get the oven into crust ⓚ.

But there’s a reason we went to all this trouble. Hand built in Italy by Marana Forni, this oven has a rotating stone floor, reaches around 400 to 450°C and can cook up to seven pizzas at once in around 90 seconds.

Safe to say, this wasn’t your average delivery. Special thanks to Tees Valley Firewood!

Next job… getting it ready to fire up. 👀

Episode 6: The Pizza Oven Saga 🍕

Another day, another completely straightforward part of opening a restaurant…

This one has been a mission from the minute we collected it, and getting it to crust ⓚ is only half the story. Safe to say, things don’t always go to plan. 😂
Watch tomorrow to see how we actually get a two-tonne pizza oven into crust ⓚ. 👀

Episode 05 | Can you guess what it is yet?

Three weeks after getting the keys, we’re finally starting to see it.

The building’s cleared, the floor plan is tightening up, and the first bits of the build are underway.

There’s still a long way to go, but this is the stage where the vision starts becoming real.

crust ⓚ is on its way.

Balancing the hard work with a bit of fun
Before anyone asks… no, Netflix haven’t called! 👀

Just our take on the trend. Hopefully it gives you a laugh while we carry on turning one pizza van into a full restaurant. 🍕
