We're coming to the end of our first season at Lakehouse, and what an amazing time it has been! We're so grateful to Jean and Keith for creating this magical place and allowing us to continue the legacy. As we enter the quieter season, we have a few plans. We'll redecorate where required and tackle the normal odd jobs. Nature-wise, we'll continue to turn the first field into a nature area - Aled and I have already planted two small woodland areas, and green shoots are now appearing. I also hope to place some posts around the lake area to encourage the kingfishers to pause long enough for a photograph. I'm spending a day with a mushroom expert on site to learn about what we have here and maybe encourage a few further spores of interesting species. We're planning a special day where we'll invite volunteers to help clear w**d in return for fine food and a season pass for fishing. If you're interested, message us or email [email protected]. It's wonderful to see the young fry from this season now growing into bigger, healthier fish. We'll also be getting a rebrand - the eagle-eyed amongst you will have spotted a little hint at it. has created our new branding for us. As we tidy up the cottages, we're sure the fishermen and women will keep visiting, so we'll keep you posted about everything we're doing. Watch out for the launch of our rebranded website, when bookings for next year will be open. Ty Teilwir is already booking fast!!

It has been a beautiful autumn week here. Our guests Dave and have not only had a great fishing week but also Gill took some stunning photographs all on site ( except the dolphins of course). We are going to be opening next year’s bookings soon with a new website launch, so watch this space www.lakehouseholidays.com. If you love wildlife or photography, why not come and visit?

I'm thrilled to announce that our first field is now officially Merlin's Field, where he spent countless sunny days lounging and exploring amidst the blackthorn. We're envisioning a vibrant nature oasis, teeming with wildflowers, a serene pond, and winding paths for our furry friends to roam. It's a bold vision, and we're taking it one step at a time. Today, we made significant progress by expanding the red squirrel woods with sweet chestnuts and wild cherry, which I've dubbed Aled's Wood. Take a look at the new growth sprouting up - it's a testament to the incredible potential that lies ahead! 🌳💚

This week, one of our guests, David has been fishing with one of the biggest rods I have seen on our lake. On one day he caught 79 fish! There was a wide variety of fish, but this was his favourite, a rather large perch. Whilst they have been here they have been really keen on exploring the nature, so have seen the red squirrels but were also lucky enough to watch the dolphins jumping at Port Lynas, hopefully we will have some of their videos to share soon.

It is a little late to book anything with us for October as we are booked now, but maybe if you are thinking about next year. I have visited Moelfre twice in the last few days, it was always one of my favourite places on Anglesey, it reminds me a little bit of Cornwall. It is a wonderful place to do a spot of sea fishing. There is also a lovely stretch of the coastal walk which enables you to see some amazing birds as well as watch the colours of the sea. Then you can perhaps reward yourself with a pint at the Kimnel Arms. We decided to have dinner at Ann's Pantry this weekend and the food, service and location was so good, I went back for lunch today. Moelfre is just 10 minutes drive from Lakehouse Holidays. For an autumn day, it had been spectacular. If anyone can’t find me, I may be sitting watching the sea.
