Name of pub: The Captain's Bar

The Captain's Bar: Small folk music pub located in the city centre whilst within a 5-10 minute walk from Edinburgh Waverley train station. I first heard of this place from a good friend of mine, who drank there when he was either at university or enjoying a night out. I decided to give it a try with another friend of mine who has lived in Edinburgh for a good while and knows where to go for a few. I did enjoy this place and will hopefully come back the next time I'm in Edinburgh

Opening Times:
The pub is open every day from 2pm-1am Monday-Friday and Sundays and 1pm-1am on Saturdays
Service:
The service is pretty good as the bar itself is sort of in the centre and against the wall with an overall view, so the staff can serve customers wherever they are located
Entertainment:
Because it is a folk music bar, the pub does entertainment in the form of jam sessions and poem readings. Me and my friend enjoyed it as it was something different, however one thing to note is that the performers don't use microphones, but their normal voices, which is nice if you are close by, but somewhat ruined by others who are having a loud conversation, which makes it hard to hear.
Social Activities:
As the folk music acts as the pub's social aspect, the place doesn't have a pool table, a jukebox, a darts board or a puggy. They don't even have a TV
Food:
Due to the small stature of the place, they don't do food since they don't have a kitchen on the premises as there is no space to have one, but there are a few shops and takeaways nearby
Atmosphere:
Despite being a folk music bar and being pretty small, the atmosphere is really nice as the place feels like you are back in another time, more specifically, the pirate age, since there is a pirate theme in the décor. As well as that, being in Edinburgh feels strange, yet exciting since I mainly drink in either Stirling or Glasgow, so it was nice for a change of scenery
People:
When I came here with my friend, it felt sociable, but normally I wouldn't speak to anyone whenever I come in here, unless someone is willing to speak to me

Name of pub: The Wee Sporty Bar
Location: Perth

The Wee Sporty Bar: Small/medium sports club within walking distance from the bus station and the city centre. I first came here when I decided to come to Perth and have a chance to drink here as I have seen this place lots of times whenever I am on the Citylink bus to Dundee, so I went in one day and although it is mainly for members, it is an alright place to go to

Opening Times:
The place doesn't have set opening hours as it changes depending on the circumstances, but they will at least give people notice about their opening hours so that way, folk know when to go to this place. They do always open Friday-Sunday
Service:
The service is pretty good as it is a sports club, the bar is in the corner with an overall view, so the staff can serve customers wherever they are located
Entertainment:
I don't think the place does entertainment as I haven't seen anything advertised, yet I have heard that they will do on occasion. If they do, they will have live music for special occasions e.g. Hogmanay parties, as well as karaoke and DJs, again that is one I am not sure about
Social Activities:
As it is a sports club, they don't have a pool table, but they do have a darts board as well as numerous TVs for various sports, but they also have a jukebox and a puggy, so there is that social factor added as well
Food:
The place doesn't do food as they don't have a kitchen on the premises, yet they might do sandwiches and maybe a buffet for either a pool or darts tournament, I am not sure on that one
Atmosphere:
Even though it is mostly a social club, it has a similar vibe to the Ellangowan, whereas if you are not a member, you need to sign in their book that they have at the entrance, which is not a problem. Despite that, the place feels nice, retro and cosy so there is a balance between both worlds
People:
When I first came in, I didn't speak to anyone, but the folk there, both staff and members all made me feel welcome and they are all pretty sound, so that was a nice feeling

The Rams Head: Medium sized pub and lounge across the road from the First & Last within walking distance from Maryhill train station. I have seen this pub millions of times whenever I am on the bus to Glasgow, and have never been in until earlier this year when I decided to give it a try and since then, I have enjoyed coming here and will pop in again

Opening Times:
The pub is open every day from 12pm-10pm Monday-Friday and 11am-10pm on Saturdays and Sundays
Service:
The service is really good as the bar is in the corner with an overall view of the place, so the staff can serve multiple customers whether the pub is busy or not and where they are sitting
Entertainment:
The pub does entertainment in the form of karaoke, bingo, live music, DJs as well as a psychic night and possiby quizzes. They will advertise what is on whether it is during the week or on the weekend
Social Activities:
The pub has a pool table, a jukebox, a couple of puggies, a darts board and a couple of TVs
Food:
The place does food in the form of bar meals and takeaway as they have a kitchen on the premises known as 'Wee Maggie's', which I have tried and enjoyed and it is also very well priced. Wee Maggie's is open every day from 12pm-4pm Monday-Thursday and 12pm-5pm Friday-Sunday
Atmosphere:
The atmosphere in this pub is really nice as it is a Celtic pub, since the décor had lots of references to Celtic. Despite that, the place feels nice and modern whilst having that classic Glasgow pub vibe mixed in, since the pub is in Maryhill
People:
I don’t speak to anyone whenever I come in here, but I have spoken to a few folk, both staff and customers and they are all sound

First & Last Pub Maryhill: Medium sized pub and lounge across the road from the Rams Head within walking distance from Maryhill train station. I have seen this pub millions of times whenever I am on the bus to Glasgow, and have never been in until earlier this year when I decided to give it a try and since then, I have enjoyed coming here and will pop in again

The pub is open every day from 11am-11pm Monday-Thursday, 11am-midnight on Fridays and Saturdays and 12:30pm-11pm on Sundays
Service:
The service is really good as the bar is in the corner with an overall view of the place, so the staff can serve multiple customers whether the pub is busy or not and where they are sitting
Entertainment:
The pub does entertainment in the form of karaoke, live music and possibly quizzes. They will host it on the weekends and will advertise what is on via a black board in the bar, so keep an eye out for that

Food:
The place doesn't do food as they don't have a kitchen on the premises, but there are a few shops nearby, as well as the Rams Head as they do food in the afternoon
Atmosphere:
The atmosphere in this pub is really nice as I believe it is a Rangers pub, due to the charity bucket they have that has the logo on it, yet the décor feels grounded and like a normal friendly pub. On the outside, they have a wall that features a mural of Andy Capp which you can see from a distance, so it gives the pub a bit of character
People:
I don’t speak to anyone whenever I come in here, but I have spoken to a few folk, both staff and customers and they are all sound

Monterey Jack's UK: Medium sized American bar and restaurant on the corner across the road from where the Corn Exchange used to be whilst within walking distance from Jessica O'Marley's, the Crossed Peels, City Walls and No. 2 Baker Street. I have seen this place whenever I am having a drinking session in Stirling, yet have never been in until by chance. Despite being more of a restaurant than a pub, I do like it as it an alternative place to drink in

Opening Times:
The pub is open every day from 11am-9pm
Service:
The service is pretty decent as the bar is in the corner with an overall view of the restaurant floor, as well as the social activities corner, so the staff can serve customers wherever they are sitted
Entertainment:
The pub doesn’t do entertainment as it is mostly a restaurant, since they don't have the space for it nor do they advertise any, which is a shame
Social Activities:
Despite not doing any entertainment and being a restaurant mainly, they don't have a puggy or a jukebox, but they do have a couple of pool tables, a couple of darts boards and nunerous TVs. They also have various board games, most I haven't seen for years, so that was nice to see them still kicking about
Food:
As mentioned before, the pub is mainly a restaurant, which is the major selling point. The food, which I have tried despite being pretty expensive, is really nice. What I like about the food is because it is an American restaurant, the portions are pretty big, so you can get a good sized meal, which can be exhaustive to eat as I have experienced, nonetheless, the food is really nice
Atmosphere:
Because it is mainly a restaurant, I do like the atmosphere as the décor makes the place look like an American diner, which makes sense as it is an American pub. Whenever I come here, the place makes me feel like I am somewhere in America, even though I'm not and yet, it feels like I am home
People:
I don't speak to anyone whenever I come in here, but I would engage in conversation if anyone did speak to me

Lux Country Sports Bar & Grill: Large sized American themed sports bar that used to be an Indian restaurant, which has moved next door and across the road from City Walls. I first seen this place after having a few drinks in Stirling when I embarked on a session in City Walls, The Crossed Peels and Jessica O'Marley's and caught my eye on this place as another alternative as the Corn Exchange has now closed down and I do enjoy this place, so I can add this to my list

Opening Times:
The pub is not open every day as they are closed Mondays and Tuesdays, but are open the rest of the week from 11am-midnight on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and 11am-1am on Fridays and Saturdays
Service:
The service is pretty good as the bar downstairs is in the corner with an overall view of the restaurant area, while the sports bar upstairs is also in the corner with an overall view, so the staff can serve customers wherever they are located
Entertainment:
The pub does entertainment in the form of live music whether it is a band, a solo gig or a tribute/themed event, karaoke as well as bingo. Some events will require a ticket/specific items, so keep and eye out for when they advertise these events
Social Activities:
The pub has a couple of pool tables, a jukebox, a darts board, a couple of puggies and nunerous TVs. Because it is a sports bar upstairs, all the social activities are located here, yet they do have a couple of TVs downstairs as well
Food:
The pub does food in the form of bar meals as they have a kitchen on the premise that serves both the bar downstairs as well as tasty bites up in the sports bar, which I have tried and enjoyed as it is reasonably priced
Atmosphere:
The atmosphere in this pub is really nice as the décor is intended to make the place feel like an American diner, which I do like as there is a lot of references to the States, such as cars, route 66 etc. They also have sports memorabilia from various sports, which are being presented as museum pieces and if you touch any, you will be barred from the place.
People:
I don’t speak to anyone whenever I come in here, but I would engage in conversation if anyone did speak to me. I have spoken to a few folk here, both staff and customers and they are all really sound

Name of pub: The Hug & Pint
Location: Kelvinbridge, Glasgow

The Hug and Pint: Medium sized pub/independent music venue located within walking distance from the Scallion and Wintersgills while heading towards St. George's Cross. I have seen this place while I was having a drinking session in Kelvinbridge and at first didn't know what is was until seeing it up close. I have enjoyed coming here despite not going to a gig here, but I would come back again and hopefully go to a gig here

Opening Times:
The place is open every day from 5pm-midnight Monday-Thursday, 3pm-midnight on Fridays and 12pm-midnight on Saturdays and Sundays
Service:
The service is pretty good as the bar is up the stairs with an overall view of the place, so the staff can serve multiple customers whether they are in the bar or if they are down in the basement, where the live music takes place
Entertainment:
Because the place is a music venue, they have live music as their entertainment, which comprises of bands, solo gigs, possibly DJs as well. They will advertise what is on via a black board in the bar, so people can get themselves a ticket as it is ticket entry only. The venue is down in the basement as they have doors on the outside so that the equipment get in and out of with ease
Social Activities:
The place doesn't have a pool table, a jukebox, a darts board or a puggy as it is a music venue, so the live music acts as a social activity. They do have some board games for customers who are having a couple in the bar, as well as a couple of TVs that showcase what's on in the month as well as a quiz on Sundays
Food:
The place does food in the form of mini bites and pizza as they have a kitchen on the premises called 'Pica Luna'. They are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but are open from 5pm-9pm on Mondays and 12pm-9pm Thursday-Sunday. I have tried the food and it is really nice and really well priced, since its mainly mini bites. They also do a vegan option so everyone can enjoy the food
Atmosphere:
As I mentioned before, the place is a music venue as well as a pub. For the pub side, it feels basic yet has that cosy and social feel with that café vibe going on. I haven't been down to the basement yet, but from what I have heard, because it is an independent venue, you get that live buzz which you get from other places. Overall, you can either have a quiet drink or you can enjoy the music

The Scallion Bar: Medium sized pub across the road from Wintersgills and a couple of shops away from the Hug and Pint. I first came here whilst having a drinking session in Kelvinbridge, also a friend of mine who recommended Inn Deep to me mentioned this place to me as I have been going past it whenever I am on the bus to Glasgow, so I went to try it out and I do enjoy this place and will be back in again

Opening Times:
The pub is open every day from 12pm-11pm Monday-Thursday, 12pm-1am on Fridays and Saturdays and 12pm-11pm on Sundays
Service:
The service is really good as the bar is against the wall with an overall view as you enter through the doors, so the staff can serve multiple customers wherever they are sitted and whenever the place is busy or not
Entertainment:
The pub does entertainment in the form of live music, quizzes, traditional music and pool tournaments. They have a similar system to Wintersgills where they will advertise what is on within the bar. While Wintersgills don't have anything on a Friday, the Scallion don't have anything on a Monday
Social Activities:
The pub doesn’t have a darts board, but they do have a pool table, a jukebox, a couple of puggies and a couple of TVs
Food:
The place does food in the form of bar meals, which I have tried and it is both reasonably priced and really nice. They will normally do food from 5pm-9pm every day , but they will change their hours depending on the season and how busy the pub is. As well as that, they will have a Sunday Roast as well as a spicy wings challenge that they do advertise
Atmosphere:
The atmosphere in this pub is really nice as it has that traditional pub décor that gives it that cosy feeling. At the same time, the green emerald colour scheme at the bar gives the Scallion that stand alone vibe, which I have enjoyed whenever I come in here
People:
I don't speak to anyone whenever I come in here, but I would engage in conversation if anyone did speak to me, which I have done with both the staff and fellow customers and they are all sound

Wintersgills: Medium sized pub and lounge across the road from the Scallion and the Hug and Pint while being pretty close to St. George's Cross. I have seen this place loads of times when I am on the bus to Glasgow, so I decided to try it while having a session in Kelvinbridge and I do like this pub and will pop in whenever I come to Kelvinbridge

Opening Times:
The pub is open every day from 12pm-midnight Monday-Friday and 11am-midnight Saturday and Sunday
Service:
The service is really good as the bar is against the wall wirh an overall view, so the staff can serve multiple customers whether the place is busy or not
Entertainment:
The pub does entertainment in the form of live music, pool tournaments, quizzes, dominoes etc. They will advertise what is happening on a board above the bar as they have something on every day except for Fridays
Social Activities:
They don’t have a jukebox or a darts board, but they do have a pool table in the lounge, a couple of puggies in both the bar and lounge and nunerous TVs
Food:
The place doesn't do food as they don't have a kitchen on the premises, yet they have a pizza deal, which I have seen similar in the Smiddy, but I don't think they do that deal. Even so, you can have food at the Scallion across the road as well as the Hug and Pint
Atmosphere:
The atmosphere in this pub is pretty nice as it has that retro old fashioned look, yet it has a modern flare added in to blend in. As well as that, you can enjoy either a quiet drink or enjoy the busy vibe that is taking place
People:
