Lost Pubs, The Barleycorn was situated on Cambridge Street next to the current Harrow pub. It was eventually subsumed into the Harrow and traded for a short while as The Harrow & Barleycorn before closing in 1980.

"The Barleycorn in Aylesbury became a favourite of mine when I moved to the town in January 1968. The small comfortable bar became a venue for blues and folk music every Thursday night mainly due to the formation of a group – The Autumn Journal, of which I was a member along with Robin Harding and Richard Cowen. We appeared here up until January 1969 when we relocated to another Aylesbury pub, the Horse and Jockey.
The Barleycorn evenings were great and we were made very welcome by the landlord and his family at that time. I remember his name was Bernard and his surname was something like Lampard."
