Life in the Faroe Islands is just as lovely as it looks 🌿🐑
Especially when the weather plays along. We’re definitely not complaining about these rare, sunny 20°C days!

Fun fact: The average summer temperature here is between 7–13°C (45–55°F). We like to say we get about seven days a year with clear blue skies and warm weather — so it’s usually the perfect coolcation getaway 🤭☀️

A simple egg can hold so much warmth. 🌷🥚
This one came from a chicken right here in Vestmanna, tended with love. We pick it up from a little pink closet — you can spot it in the last slide.
The egg tray is decorated so creatively, with the chicken lady’s granddaughter adding the final touches. How cute is that? 🥰

Every egg tells a story. It’s local, it’s personal, and it’s a piece of the place we call home ❤️
And I promise you — you can taste the difference!

Breaking news!💫 - Swipe to the last photo for a little surprise!

We’ve been blessed with the most amazing weather these past few weeks – and I’ve been soaking up every second of it!🌞
But… we’ve also been putting that sunshine to good use and getting practical around here too!

Right now we’re in the middle of some exciting renovations here at our little home by the ocean – new windows, fresh wood, and lots of love going into every corner. It means we can’t welcome guests this April, but we promise it’ll be worth the wait.

From end of May, we’ll be back with everything you love: cozy dinners, homemade breakfasts, and chilly but ✨magical✨ morning dips. I can’t wait to invite you back into our home!

Thanks for all your kind messages – they truly mean the world during this busy and slightly dusty time.

Okkara fyrsta umtalaða grein!📰✨
Í summar hevði eg vitjan av eini so fittari danskari familju, ið skuldi royna okkara morgunmat og fegin vildi síggja, hvussu heimablídni var hjá eini barnafamilju. Tað var so stuttligt at síggja, hvussu skjótt tey smáu kendu seg heima og spældu við okkara leikur, meðan foreldrini hugnaðu sær við einum heitum kaffimunni og nýbakaðum bollum. Vit hava altíð sagt, at Heima á Fitjum er eitt paradís fyri børn, og enn einaferð hevur tað víst seg at vera rætt.
Takk fyri eina deiliga vitjan, Allan!
Hetta summarið hevur verið heilt ótrúligt! Við so nógvari fremmandavitjan, ið nú eru vorðin vinfólk kring allan heimin, kann eg sanniliga siga, at eg havi lært nógv um meg sjálva og ikki minst hoyrt óteljandi nógvar góðar søgur. Eg vil viðmæla øllum, sum ivast í at hava heimablídni, at gera tað! Tað er nakað heilt serligt at deila eina máltíð, mentan og lívssøgur við onnur, og tað gevur so nógv afturljóð.
Eg eri so takksom fyri øll, ið hava vitjað og gjørt henda summarið so serligt. Tað sær út til, við bíleggingum sum enn koma inn, at vit møguliga skulu leingja okkara fyrstu sesong! 🏡✨

Our First Featured Article!📰✨
I’m so excited to share that we have been featured in a new article in Jyllands-Posten!
Earlier this summer, I had the pleasure of hosting the loveliest Danish family for our Breakfast Club, and what a wonderful visit it was! It was heartwarming to see how quickly the little ones felt at home with all our toys while the parents enjoyed a warm cup of coffee and freshly baked rolls. We have always said that Heima á Fitjum is a paradise for children, and once again, it has proven to be true.

This summer has been an incredible journey, with so many strangers becoming friends after being welcomed into our home. I am so grateful to everyone who has visited and made this summer so special. With bookings still coming in, it looks like we might even have to extend our first season! 🏡✨

Hi everyone!👋🏻 Today is my birthday, and I think it is time to properly introduce myself✨

My name is Kristina, married to Mortan, and together, we've made this account for our home at Heima á Fitjum. It felt almost selfish not to open our doors and let others experience the life we have here and let you experience our daily life as a small family in the lovely village Vestmanna in the Faroe Islands.

I have been working in hospitality and tourism for the past 11 years now, so I thought to myself “What have I not tried yet?” - and that was when I decided to accept a new challenge and start my own thing and work independently.

I’m always up to something, and I love a challenge! - needless to say that nobody was surprised when I said I was starting up this project of mine 🙈
I'm a coffee lover ☕- though with kids around, my coffee is often lukewarm at best.

I love to travel, and I’m planning many adventures in the future. For now, I’m focusing on making our home a safespace for the kiddos🥰

I’m very passionate about tourism, especially Regenerative Tourism and sustainable traveling, which I truly thrive for in our practice.

My favorite hobby is hiking - especially in the Faroe Islands. My goal this year, is to find time in my busy schedule to hike at least once a month. that I need to give myself the time in my busy schedule to hike at least once a month. Most often we turn it into a fun family adventure day 🤍
I also love swimming in the ocean - You should join me one day! 🏊‍♀️
