Chippy Night - The End of an Era ❤️🍒🍟
Well folks… that’s it.
The final Chippy Night at The Cherry Tree is officially over.
And boy, what a night it was.
You absolutely packed us out from start to finish, and it was honestly wonderful to see so many people turn up for one final Friday and say goodbye to what has become such a special little tradition for us.
So before we move forward, we just want to stop for a minute and say thank you.
A massive, heartfelt thank you to every single person who has supported Chippy Night over the last 18 months or so.
From day one, we could see the demand was there, and somehow it just never stopped.
Week after week after week, you came in your droves.
You filled the tables, ordered your chippy teas, brought your families and friends, recommended us, left reviews, sent messages, shared posts, gave us feedback and, more often than not, completely cleaned us out. 😂🍟
And the truth is, that support is one of the biggest reasons The Chippy Corralejo even exists.
Without the love, the comments, the reviews, the encouragement and seeing just how much demand there was for what we were doing, we probably would never have had the confidence to take the next step and open a dedicated chippy.
So genuinely, thank you.
You helped create this.
We also cannot forget the staff, past and present, who completely bought into the whole idea and helped make every Friday happen.
Chippy Night was never just one or two people.
It took a team.
From preparing food and peeling spuds to serving tables, washing up, cleaning fryers, taking orders, running food and dealing with the absolute madness of a packed Friday night, every single person who played a part deserves our thanks.
Never underestimate the part you have all played in getting us to where we are now. ❤️
But there are three people I want to give a very special mention to.
Elaine & JJ.
Kelly’s Mum and Dad.
What can we even say about these two?
From bashing spuds, cleaning the fryers, chipping potatoes, prepping, cleaning, helping wherever they could and basically just getting stuck into absolutely everything.
These two “old-age pensioners” 😂 are both in their 70s and still working, entirely through choice, because they want to support their family in every possible way they can.
Nothing is ever too much trouble.
They just turn up, get stuck in and help.
It is impossible to measure the amount of respect I have for these two.
They are an absolute blessing to our family, and Chippy Night would not have been what it was without them.
Thank you both. ❤️
And then there is the most important one of all…
My amazing wife, Kelly.
The safest pair of hands I know.
From the 20-hour days, to hand peeling sack after sack of potatoes, dealing with drums of oil, running from the kitchen to the terrace, doing three jobs at once and somehow keeping everything moving when the whole place is absolute chaos.
She always shows up.
For the business.
For the family.
For our dreams.
And she does it without hesitation.
To have a wife and life partner who never lets you down, who backs every crazy idea, and who is standing next to you when things are brilliant and when things are bloody hard makes me the luckiest man on earth.
I could genuinely write for hours about how remarkable this woman is…
But eventually you lot would get bored, and she would start wondering what I’m after. 😂❤️
Right then…
Enough of the soppiness.
Because while tonight definitely feels emotional, it also marks the beginning of something incredibly exciting.
The Chippy Corralejo will be opening its doors in the next few weeks. 🍟🔥
A proper dedicated home for everything we have learned over the last 18 months.
A chance to take what started as one little Friday night at The Cherry Tree and take it to the next level.
We are unbelievably excited for what comes next.
But no matter how big The Chippy becomes or where this journey takes us, we will never forget where it all started.
