Danaflex became the winner of ProdExtraPack (ПродЭкстраПак) 2022. Our winner is an in-mold lid label for the Nescafe Gold brand.

IML has good resistance to high and low temperatures, withstands challenges with water, grease, or other chemically active substances. Such labels are resistant to abrasion and other mechanical damage.

Alina Khalimova participated as a speaker on conference Upakovka – How to be more sustainable for a better life that was held previous week by Messe Düsseldorf. The speech dedicated to the sustainable solutions in flexible packaging and it was a creative way to present it via mobile app that was especially designed by Danaflex. Currently Danaflex is moving towards with the well known FMCG brands to find the ideal solutions and switch to the fully recyclable packaging.

This year a lot of European countries visited exhibition Interplastica and in the frame of this event was held the conference. Alina Khalimova participated as a speaker in the conference Recycling Solutions and spoke about Recyclable Flexible Packaging Solutions created by Danaflex for Food and Non-food segment.

The interesting fact is that according to the study made in 2019 by IFEU on packaging used in Europe for FMCG excluding beverages was developed two scenario:

1) what if all rigid packaging were substituted by flexible packaging?
2) what if all rigid packaging were replaced by flexible packaging?

The results show that in the first scenario – substituting rigid by flexible – the total weight of primary packaging used for non-beverage FMCGs in Europe could be reduced by 21 million tonnes per year ( a 70% reduction) and its Global Warming Potential (GWP) could be reduced by 33%.

The opposite scenario – substituting flexible by rigid – would increase the total GWP of the primary packaging used for non-beverage FMCGs in Europe by about 31%. This is despite the much higher actual recycling rates of rigid packaging. Even if the recycling rate of rigid packaging was raised to 100%, this would still lead to 14% higher GWP. In addition to GWP, the environmental impacts of Abiotic Depletion, which refers to the use of non-renewable resources, and Use of Water were also assessed, showing similar results in the same order of magnitude.

Danaflex won international WorldStar Global Packaging Award 2021 with sustainable solution for Unilever sheet masks packaging - recyclable sachets with interlayer printing for sheet masks packaging.

The packaging is a polypropylene triplex laminate with a metallized oriented PP barrier layer and interlayer digital printing. Special sealant layer film is produced by cast film extrusion process and all layers of the package are glued with a high performance adhesive.
The packaging is designed for recyclability as it consists of more than 95% PP raw materials. The non-recyclable raw material content is less than 5% of the laminate weight. This solution will therefore reduce the environmental footprint after recycling of the used packaging.

It was a presentation with a huge influence and discussion about sustainable issues in recyclable flexible package and crisis with supply chain and transportation that is happening nowadays.
