I'd like to learn whether my childhood cuddly toy Charlie can be given a second life. He's 30 years old & very well loved! He would need at least two fur grafts & a very good groom & stuff, but he has all his limbs and there are no tears or weak areas of stitching. For the fur on his chest, the grey stripes are likely difficult to match, I wouldn't mind if the solution was to give him a white 'bib' in order to repair that area.

Hi Andrew, He looks like he could use a spa treatment as well as some new ear linings. Is there anything else that needs to be done. His right hand is worn through on the palm and the finger hole inside his head needs some attention.?
I can fix that hole on his paw & the hole in his head. I can do all that including areas considered in the last email

Let me know what you think you can do for him beyond what we have talked about.

So far he looks good - a little thin on the fur but nothing to worry about. Andrew, Your bunny has had his spa treatment, ears relined, hole in his head smoothed & his arm replaced. His arm was in such poor condition, I could not repair it.

I’m hoping to get my son’s teddy bear repaired. I have tried to darn the paws and sew some things myself but I think it needs more expertise than I have. Please let me know if you have some time to work on his much beloved teddy. I live in South Vancouver and am able to drop it off with you whenever it is convenient.

A story about Big White the teddy bear adventure.

Not again! but I was too big to fit in a suitcase for vacation. Many of his friends got to go to Europe and Hawaii, but Big White stayed home and listened to their stories. Then one day he had a wonderful treat - a 2-way ticket to Vancouver. He would go to Vancouver for a trip, and would get stitched up while he was there. It would be a perfect vacation - visit the mountains, and come back feeling better than he had for years. Then he would have the stories to tell.

Hi Lucas, I weighed your stuffy & he’s almost 1 kg. How much weight do you want in him? Do you want it all in the bottom or spread out through his body ( it will be encased in a bag).

Would you be able to clean this little (approximately 8" tall) cloth sailor doll for me? It was my late Mother's. She got it in 1936, aboard the S.S. Duchess of York ocean liner.

He is precious to me because of that connection. He is in pretty good condition, but somewhat soiled. His sailor cap should be re attached too. Gail

Hi Gail, Your sailor is ready to go home. I couldn’t get all the spots off but he’s much cleaner. I had to try a number of different techniques to get him clean. His hat is clean too.

This is a Norah Wellings doll. She started her doll making career in 1919 with the Chad Valley Co and seven years later she & her bother opened their own toy factory, Victoria Toy Works.

All of her dolls are made of cloth: felt plush, velvet and in some instances cotton. As most of Norah's dolls were intended as souvenirs & mascots many survived & are still in good condition.

Hello Teddy Bear Hospital

My wife and I have two Gund puppies, about 35 and 30 years old who could use a health checkup and "spa day" to revitalize them. I introduce to you, Sir Edumund Puppy, a.k.a. Puppy (left) and Matia (pronounced "May-shuh") (right).

Puppy is male, is the older of the two, and is a little skinnier. His name is an homage to Sir Edmund Hillary, the legendary explorer and mountain climber. Matia is female and has a slightly thicker build.

They get cuddled every night and have journeyed on many adventures with us. They are expert travelers and explorers. They are wise, chill, playful, and occasionally mischievous. They would love to have a spa day and have their coats washed and brushed. Their fur is a little thin in a few specific spots, but otherwise holding up pretty well. The photo below shows a worn spot on Puppy's front left leg. Their stuffing has become a bit soft and could use a refresh to make them a bit more substantial. Many thanks, Mike and Cathy

Hi Mike, I can give them both a spa treatment & grooming, fix any holes & give them more stuffing. It looks like their pad pads are wearing out. I can replace them all if you’d like. I won’t be able to match their current pads so it’s best to do either paw or foot pads if you’d like to only do a pair. Ruth
