From Rick Wilsher PCDQ
To the amazing and beautiful people of the very best city on the map to ever exist, I just want to say with complete gratitude, a huge thank you to each and every one of you who visited and supported dairy Queens transformation making this last season a historic one and it's all because of you and I just want to say thank you
As we approach the end of the week being October 31st will most likely be our closing for the season and for all the ghouls and goblins who show up in costume they can have a free treat
And I just want to remind everybody as we're going into winter with a tough economy. Food scarcity is an all-time high. When I wrap things up this season, I'll have the final tally for the donation towards the food bank and I will publicize that within the group. We raised a lot of money throughout the year on our food bank Friday promotion and we raised some money on our 50/50 draw and together when I add everything up and cut them the check. I'll let everybody know the final amount and moving forward for next year to even simplify things a little further as everything I do comes at a learning curve because I just do it from the heart and some of these things I'm doing I've never done before.
So in regards to the food bank Friday thing I'm going to continue to do that. But rather than saying $0.50 on an item or a dollar or this or that or every other Friday it'll be every Friday and it's just going to be a percentage of sales. It's so much easier and we'll continue get our goal higher than we did this year.
And some exciting news as is, I'm working on a community VIP discount card. We're a variety of businesses will offer discounts on that card for and the cards will be available for purchase with 100% of the proceeds going to the food bank.
I just want to say again I can't reiterate it enough how impressed I am with this tight community. It's an amazing, incredible community and the people who have always seem to help the people who have not and that just warms my heart and makes me feel like I want to be here for the rest of my living life and I truly believe that with every living cell of my body, I truly love this city, even from the city councilors who got involved last minute to shut down dolphin Street to the mayor who came and delivered a plaque 70 Sweet ears in business to all of the patrons who come and tell me stories of the past of their experiences, their first dates, their first kisses. It's just it's so incredible to be a part of this and we all are in it together and it just makes me feel like it's all part of a dream and I'm I'm afraid to wake up cuz it doesn't feel real
But on a final note in regards to the food bank, now that I wipe my eyes clear of the tears that we're streaming down my face, walking my dog, talking to my phone expressing my feelings and it still feels like a dream but back to the food bank. I just want everybody to know when you see the signs at dairy Queen on the back fence 100% of that money I get from those signs goes to the food bank as well. Not a dollar I keep so I just want everybody to know when they see the people that are advertising on that fence just know their money that they gave to me isn't helping me. It's helping feed other people that need food as I give 100% of the proceeds to the food bank.
So again, it shows community and how we're all tied together and it makes me just feel so incredibly honored with a heart filled with gratitude to live each day like it's your last as yesterday is gone and tomorrow is not promised so we live in the moment.
In the another post I will put together a collage of pics and videos from throughout the year as it was just a magical season..... I can't express enough my love for you all.....
