Why I never "chase the red" on the map 📍
One thing I learned fast during my years as a long-haul driver is that chasing the crowd is usually a losing game. It’s no different with gig work today.
I see so many drivers see a "surge" or a red "hotspot" on their app and immediately floor it toward that zone. By the time they get there, twenty other drivers have done the same thing, the surge disappears, and you’re just sitting there idling away your profit.
Instead of chasing where the map says it's busy, I’ve started sticking to my own "reliable" zones. In my area, I tend to stick near the high-rise areas. The orders are steady, and I’m not wasting half my shift (and my fuel) racing across town for a "maybe."
My advice? Find your own "sweet spot" and let the work come to you.
What about you? Do you have a favorite neighborhood you stick to, or do you find yourself constantly chasing those red zones on the app? Let’s hear it in the comments. 👇
