Just reminiscing on how far I’ve come! I’m not one to post every year to celebrate….and now I wish I would have! This May we celebrated 15 years as Karla’s Specialteas ❤️ and I just cannot thank all of my amazing customers enough for supporting me on this journey, for without you I wouldn’t have made it so far!!!!

My babies were 2 & 5 when I started and now my youngest will be a grad this year and my oldest is in 2nd year Electrical training! I started Karla’s Specialteas so that I could be home with them while also being able to save up for some big trips as a family…..and I started it because I LOVE loose leaf teas, herbs, flowers, roots and natural health & wellness and wanted to bring something to my customers that not only brought them top quality products and but also tricked them into being healthier 😂 medicinals are my jam and I love to share my knowledge and passion for herbs and teas with everyone!

Started in my basement (don’t worry Fraser Health approved lol), where I did markets and online sales to build the business, moved to a shop in Abby, 3rd block in Mission, 1st block move, and now I’m here in Middle block of First Ave! Fires, floods, moving, covid times, economy changes, car accident, big life changes….some days I just can’t believe how tenacious (or stubborn) I am to keep on going! But I do it because I love and so appreciate all my customers and I hope you all feel it! I think about you and your families and watch them grow/change, I wonder how you are managing your cancer treatments or how your wedding or trip went, I notice it when I haven’t seen you for a while and worry and we’ve probably laughed (or cried) together or hugged in the shop!

I’m terrible with taking photos over the years and this one just popped into my feed and made me feel the feels. Thank you so very much for being so amazing. Thank you to one of my 1st customers that gave me that card “without risk there is no reward” I still have it ❤️ thank you for supporting me and giving me the gift of those years with my boys, thank you for hugging me when I almost gave up 1000x and thank you to my special people I couldn’t have done it without them!!!!

Iced Tea Time!!! Lots of new teas in the shop to keep you hydrated on these hot summer days!

Perfect morning for some SpecialTeas! Pop by the shop today from 11-4 to check out all the new teas in store. From small batch iced teas, seasonal favourites, lattes, Matcha 🍵, medicinals and more!

Iced Tea Carafes- make steeping the perfect iced tea so simple in as little as 5 minutes, or do an overnight cold steep for those delicate green or black teas. Strainer is built into the lid so it’s so simple!

Perfect measuring spoons take the guess work out of “how much do I use”?!? Perfect cup, perfect pot or perfect matcha!

General rule of thumb is rounded 1 tsp per cup and 1 Rounded tbsp per pot!

Lots of NEW mugs in stock from my wonderful friends Dorothy and Garry from Coldstream Pottery 😍

We met about 14 years ago at the Harrison Festival of the Arts and became great friends ❤️ I used to make my little handleless mugs with them at their studio here on Mission, when they moved we transported mugs back and forth from the Okanagan for me to glaze and when I expanded my retail of course I had to have more of their mugs and honey 🍯 pots!

Functional pottery that you can throw in the dishwasher or microwave and they keep all your fav tea’s or coffee hot!

Iced Tea Time! Swing by the shop and check out all the new small batch iced teas!

Did you know you can make any tea hot or iced? Just double the amount of tea, steep 5-10 minutes, sweeten and put over ice!

Cold Steep overnight by adding cold water to your favourite tea and popping into the fridge!

I have some amazing iced tea carafe’s that have a stainless steel infuser in them lid so no need to worry about tea bags or straining!
