As a local business that has proudly served the Hinton community, we have recently been the subject of serious allegations being circulated through anonymous and newly created social media accounts.

For those who have been following these events closely, the most recent post involving Nagaraj Varadarajan was proven to be false. We provided screenshots showing that the real individual confirmed he had no involvement in the allegations being circulated under his name.

We attempted to share this clarification in the group where it was posted, but the post was not approved by the group administrators. We respect that decision, but this situation has unfortunately become an ongoing back and forth.

That said, we feel it is important to speak up because our reputation, business, and employees are directly affected. In a small community, information spreads quickly, and allegations, whether true or false, can have lasting consequences. People form opinions, businesses can lose customers, and livelihoods can be impacted.

The Blend Kitchen + Bar has worked hard to become a positive part of this community. We have invested countless hours, resources, and personal sacrifices into building this business. More importantly, our staff members rely on the restaurant to support themselves and their families. When our reputation is attacked, the impact extends far beyond the ownership group.

We understand that people are entitled to their opinions and that concerns should be raised through the proper channels when necessary. However, we also believe that accusations should be supported by facts, evidence, and due process rather than anonymous posts and online speculation.

To everyone following this situation, we simply ask that you remember there are always two sides to every story. We appreciate those who have taken the time to hear both perspectives before reaching conclusions.

A Message from The Blend Kitchen + Bar:

We’d like to address allegations being made about our business by a former employee.

The individual making these claims worked with us for nearly two years. During that time, he was employed, paid, and a valued member of our team. If he was unhappy working with us, he was welcome to leave at any time, just as any of our employees are.

Unfortunately, once his work permit expired, he was no longer legally permitted to continue working in Canada. We understand that immigration and work permit issues can be stressful for individuals and their families, and we can only assume that this person is under the impression that we have control over immigration decisions. We do not. Work permits and immigration status are determined by the Government of Canada and as employers, we are required to follow those rules.

What makes this particularly disappointing is that this was not someone who worked with us for a few weeks or months. This was someone who was part of our team from the beginning, someone we trusted and supported.

Because of that, we are genuinely shocked to see these allegations being made. We never expected someone who played such an important role in our restaurant to turn around and attempt to tarnish the business, the staff, and the families who depend on it, due to their personal frustrations over permit decisions that are beyond our control.

If these allegations were true, one would expect that the concerns would’ve been raised long ago. Not after two years, now that the employment relationship has ended.

Anyone with concerns is certainly welcome to speak directly with our current staff, management, or ownership team.

While we are disappointed by the situation, we wish this person all the best moving forward and hope he finds success wherever life takes him next. We will remain focused on supporting our staff, serving our customers and continuing to contribute to the Hinton community.
