Grey highlands peeps. Help. I need a quick 101 on the garbage system. Dan always did the garbage. How many bags will they take and how do the bins have to be oriented?

It breaks my heart to share this, Dan Trudeau passed away Sunday night close to midnight. It was sudden and we’ll have more details soon following an autopsy. The funeral will be in Collingwood next week. Exact date/location will be sent soon.

Like many people right now we created a raised garden bed. Thanks to some local vendors, we were able to get a wide variety of seedlings. Roy’l acres grew us some heirloom seedlings. Maxwell Garden supply had lettuce, cucumber and sage, but not much left. I also connected to Rocky Hill Hideaway for some great herb seedlings. I’ll share a photo soon once it’s all planted!

Thanks to Erin Guenter for the connection to Spring Hills/cedar crestTrout Farm. We picked up a case of both their trout and char, and it is seriously good fish. My 9 yr old ate a WHOLE fish for dinner....not just one but two fillets! Here is a salad we made with it.

Way before we moved to Grey Highlands from Toronto, I used to do freezer orders from Huber Farms, Heritage Meats. I remember pulling up to their truck In the middle of A parking lot in Koreatown. The frozen veggies and ground beef were delicious. After moving closer to their farm we enjoyed ordering from them and driving to the farm to pick up our meat directly. Might do another order soon!!

Grown locally near Toronto and Guelph, Ontario. Beef, Pork, Lamb, Chicken, Duck and Turkey raised without the use of antibiotics,hormones or GM crops.

Last weekend I stopped at Dunridge Farms for Duntroon cyder and garlic. Huge bag of garlic for $8. The rhubarb hard cider used to be my fave, but I think the Standing Rock is the covid fave. Perfect for our nightly cribbage games.

Giffens country market has been a source of the best buttertarts. Don’t just take my work for it, they won second place at the Midland Buttertarts Festival last year. If you haven’t tried them, get in your car now and go pick up a six pack they come in plain, raisin or pecan!

Also worth grabbing are their chicken pies and tortierre. After a day outside, our kids love to come home to their home baking.

During our last visit, we picked up a bushel of apples. From that we made apple sauce, apple crisp, apple cake and my grandmother made her famous apple pie squares.
