The takin, Bhutan's national animal, has a unique origin story tied to local mythology. Legend says that the Divine Madman, Lama Drukpa Kuenley, created the takin by attaching a goat's head to an ox’s skeleton. Today, you can see this rare animal at the Motithang Takin Preserve in Thimphu, where it roams freely alongside other wildlife like deer, wild boar, and pheasants.
