Cooking Instruction:
P**a (པུ་ཏ་) a traditional buckwheat noodle delicacy of Bumthang is prepared as follows.
Divide the packet of noodles into three equal parts and boil each portion for 3-5 mins and strain it to remove the excess water.
The boiled noodles may be rinsed in cold water or put directly in a preparation bowl.
Prepare an accompanying sauce from a mixture of spring onions, chilies, and eggs fried in oil separately and pour this sauce in the bowl containing the noodles. Mix them thoroughly for a tasty and healthy meal.
Salt, Sichuan pepper and spices may be added as per one’s taste preference.
Milk, butter milk or curd may be added to the p**a for an easy wet dish.
P**a is a meal with rich history and it is believed in ancient times that eating it will scare the evil spirits away.
