In 1718 Nassau stood at a crossroads.
Pirates ruled our harbour until Royal Governor Woodes Rogers arrived to restore law and trade. From that defining chapter came the Latin motto:
Expulsis Piratis, Restituta Commercia.
“Pirates Expelled. Commerce Restored.”
For over 250 years, those words represented The Bahamas and a new era of commerce and prosperity.
Today, we’ve brought that story back to Bay Street.
