Sunday Morning Notes ☕️

Acts Initiative 🔥

Begins: Acts 1 ⏳

At the end of someone’s life, the words they speak are not wasted. 🚫

At the beginning of Acts, Jesus gives His disciples His final instructions that are still important for us today. 🙂‍↕️

When Jesus went to Heaven, He didn’t leave us on our own. He gave us instructions for living a life in Christ and sent us Holy Spirit. 🔥

Acts 1:1-3
Jesus gave us commandments that are not optional, and He chose us. 🥹

The foundation of our faith and the reason we have hope is the resurrection, and there was a lot of evidence that Jesus did die and rise again. 😮

Acts 1:4-8
We are called to reach people in Jerusalem (where you are), Judea (a little further out), Samaria (even further), and the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8). 🌎🌍🌏

We are not called to live out this walk without Holy Spirit. We need His power and His encouragement to do what He has for us to accomplish. ❤️

The difference between success and failure is being obedient to Holy Spirit. Whatever we are doing in life, we need to seek His heart and make our plans based on His words. 🙏

Acts 1:9-14
The other thing we have to do is wait in expectation. The disciples waited, prayed in unity, and prepared for what God had spoken to them. ⏳

God doesn’t waste anything. We shouldn’t either. 🚫

Unity is a decision despite differing opinions to find the things that we agree on like who Jesus was and is. ✅

Our culture hates waiting, and we assume because we hate waiting that God will change His plans to fit our agendas. 😮

We need to tell God, “I am ready to go when you need me, but what do you want me to do in the mean time?” ❓

He will teach us things in the waiting. ☺️

Acts 1:15-26
God is laying the foundation. The foundation needs to be solid to be built on. ✅

The disciples were preparing what would become the foundation of the church. 💒

While you are waiting for those things the Lord spoke to you to pass, pray with expectancy. Don’t waste the waiting time. God will use that in your life and will train you to have what you need to be successful. 🏋️‍♀️🏋️‍♂️

Judas was not irreplaceable. He was called by God, yet when he betrayed Jesus, he was replaced. There is a warning: if we aren’t faithful to do what He has called us to do, He will appoint someone else to do it. 💔

Don’t make Jesus replace you because you don’t obey, wait with expectation, or listen when He calls you to step out. 🚫

When He calls you to step out, there will be peace inside of you, but on the outside in the world it might not make sense. 😳

God doesn’t always give you everything you need right when you step out. He gives it to you in stages as you step out in trust. ❤️

God is never late, but He is often never early. 🙂‍↕️

When God speaks to you, don’t let what God has told you die while you are waiting. 🚫

How Beautiful are the Feet 🥾

Everyday is a gift from God. When you wake up, what is your mission for that day? ❓

God’s agenda for us everyday should be our priority. ✅

Luke 4:18-19
Jesus was 100% man and 100% God. He was anointed and empowered by the Holy Spirit to do the works of God and boldly proclaim the message of freedom when He walked on this earth. 🕊️

We need to ask God daily who we can reach with the Gospel and minister to others with His love and kindness. 👏

Like Jesus, we need to declare the Gospel message “repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand” with truth, kindness, and love. ❤️

Like Jesus, we need to demonstrate His message with God’s power. 😯

Acts 10:36-38
John the Baptist preached to prepare the way for Jesus with the empowerment of the Holy Spirit and demonstration of water baptism. 🗣️

If you are empowered by Holy Spirit, the Gospel message can always be demonstrated by His power whether that’s a healing or the supernatural peace of God. 🥹

Hebrews 2:3-4
Signs are just signs of the Good News manifesting in Creation. It demonstrates God’s Kingdom. 🏰

It’s not a lack of faith to go to doctors. ❤️

It’s our job to pray and stand in faith. It’s God’s job to perform signs and wonders. 👏

Matthew 4:22-25
Jesus declared and demonstrated the Gospel message with power. We are to follow His example. 🤲

Have you been hungry to see souls saved and people touched by God? ❓

People need to be touched by God through kindness, love, and prayer. 🙏

We need to affirm in others that we are all accepted by God as we are, no matter how broken, confused, or lost. ❤️

There is a lot of work to do for God’s Kingdom and not a lot of people willing to do that work. 😔

Matthew 10:1, 10:7-8
We have freely received from God, and we are called to freely give invitations to meet Him to others. 💌

We are not called to ask people to do enough work to earn the love and acceptance of God that we did not earn ourselves. 👏

Church should be a place where everyone feels welcome. ❤️

All believers have been sent to do God’s work -not just those in “traditional ministry”. ✅

We should live out our days with sharing the Gospel as our priority. 📆

God asks us to share the Gospel by His leading and with the personality and talents He has given us. ❤️

John 14:12
Jesus said we will do more than He accomplished if every single believer went out to reach people than His human body did alone. 😯

Luke 24:46-49
The power of God will cover you inside and out, and when you have that you can be a powerful witness. First we are empowered and then we are witnesses. 👏

Salvation is the greatest miracle: the redemption of a sinful soul. 🥹

We are not limited by our own strength and ability. We are empowered by Holy Spirit. 🔥

You cannot separate the nature of God from the power of God. They go together. ❤️

When talking to people, we need to get to the heart of the matter. Jesus loves them no matter who they are or what they have done. We don’t need to reproach behavior, we need to introduce hearts to Jesus, and He will help them from the inside out just like He has done for us. 🥹

Acts 2
This group of people that fit in a single room brought the Gospel to the world. 😯

People heard them speaking in tongues (demonstration & witness). 🗣️

Peter who was previously a coward was filled with power and spoke boldly resulting in 3,000 souls being saved and baptized. 🛟

The New Testament church described in the book of Acts was launched on this day because all those souls were empowered, went out, shared with others, and the church grew daily as a result. 👏

How can you impact people in your circle? 🤔

Sunday Morning Notes ☕️

Word from Tithes & Offering 💰
Starting a fire in us for God simply involves reading the Word and connecting with God on a regular basis. Like every other relationship in our lives, our relationship with God takes time and investment. 🔥

How Beautiful are the Feet 👣
Big things happen when every Christian fulfills the calling God has on their lives. Everyone who is saved is called. ✅

We are created to save souls. 🛟

If every Christian was a Christian like you, how many people would know the Gospel? 🤔

Matthew 28:18-20
This was Jesus’ last command before He left this earth. 😯

We were bound by Satan before Jesus came to save us and took all authority from Satan. ⛓️‍💥

Jesus said, “Go and make disciples,” and He wants us to go everywhere people are (Matthew 22:9). That’s our mission. 🗺️

By God’s grace, we have been saved and now are called to save others (Ephesians 2:4-5). 🛟

We are to take on the kingdom of hell and aggressively press forward for the Kingdom of Heaven (Matthew 11:12). 🏰

1 John 4:9-11
God loved us while we were sinners. We are to love others who are difficult to love so they want to be saved too. ❤️

God is love, and He is just. Sins demand payment of death. That’s why Jesus died for us. He paid the price for our sins. ⚖️

The end will not come until the whole world has a chance to be saved because God is so loving (Matthew 24:14). 🛟

The Gospel must be preached. 👏

Matthew 4:18-22
Jesus called these disciples with the purpose of catching men. 🎣

God’s heartbeat is souls saved. ❤️

When Stephen was stoned for preaching the Gospel, Jesus was standing at the right hand of the Father (Acts 6-7). Stephen likely planted seeds in Saul’s heart that day. God also saw Saul who would one day become the great evangelist Paul. 🌱

Romans 10:14-15
Nobody can receive Jesus without someone sharing and introducing Him to them. How can they hear if no one goes? ❓

Faith comes by hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17). 📖

We are all to be the hands and feet of Jesus. 🤲

Every Christian has been given the ministry of reconciliation. We are reconciled to Christ, and we help others be reconciled to Christ. ✝️

The Gospel must be preached throughout the world -there are some people today who don’t even know about Jesus and are unreached. You don’t have to have permission to go and make disciples. 🌎🌍🌏

Barnabus saved many souls even though he wasn’t a member of the 11 disciples. It isn’t just the pastor’s and teacher’s job to save souls. They are called to equip others to go and serve (Ephesians 4:11-13). 👏

1 Timothy 4:5, Colossians 4:2-4
Be thankful and prayerful for doors opened to share the Gospel. We can’t just pray, we also have to go out, have faith God will guide our feet where He needs us, and share His hope. 🙏

You never know who is on the other side of your obedience or your disobedience. Who is or isn’t hearing the Gospel because of you? 😯

We have to be willing to be flexible with our schedules so God can lead us. 📆

Psalms 2:8
Ask Him for the nations. 🌏🌍🌎

Mark 16:15-20
Pray for the sick, and it will open a door for sharing the Gospel. In the Bible, signs were paired with sharing and teaching. 🙏

If something bad happens, it won’t harm you. 🚫

All authority was given to Jesus, and He gave it to us with Him so we can go and make disciples. 🙂‍↕️

If every Christian was like you, how many people would be saved? How many people can you go to? 🤔

This can’t be a normal week. Take your gifts and plant seeds because without seeds, there is no harvest. 🌾

Word from Before Service:
We have to read the Word, know it, believe it, and speak it over our lives. ❤️

When you are emotional, go to the Lord and tell Him how you are feeling. Your emotions will go up and down which is why we need to live by the Word. 📖

With man this is impossible, but with God nothing is impossible. 👏

Sermon: When Following Jesus Looks Crazy 😯

John 15:18-20
The Christian walk is not easy, nor is it normal in the eyes of the world. 🚫

If we follow God and His teaching, we will look different and strange to the world. 🤨

The world calls loneliness, brokenness, medicated, and ever changing standards of morality and ethics all normal. 😬

Romans 12:2, Matthew 5:13-16, Philippians 3:20, 1 Peter 2:9-12
We are different because God is different, and looking like Him makes us look different too. 👏

We aren’t called to fit in, we’re called to be salt and light. 💡

Some topics that the Word & World differ on:

1️⃣ Money (Matthew 6:20, Luke 16:13, 2 Corinthians 9:7)

The Bible warns us that our hearts follow our treasure. 🤑

The world says we should get all we can and look out for number one. How often do we live this way because we grew up in this culture? 😳

Jesus says to give sacrificially and cheerfully. 😌

2️⃣ Trials (James 1:2-4)

The world says we should avoid suffering and that when your heart is breaking, to do whatever it takes to escape that pain. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

The Bible says to consider it pure joy when we face trials. We don’t have a choice in whether we go through trials, but we can choose how we respond. We can choose to embrace it and allow those trials to mature and grow us. ☺️

It doesn’t mean that the trials will be easy. The end results of becoming a more mature person are not immediate and that’s what’s so hard for us. 😩

3️⃣ Marriage (Matthew 19:13-16 Mark 10:9, Philippians 2:3-4, Matthew 19:6, Malachi 2, Colossians 3:13, Genesis 2:24)

The Bible says marriage is about sacrificial love. ❤️

The world says follow your heart and if a marriage doesn’t make you happy, to get a divorce. 😣

4️⃣ Sexual Purity (Romans 12:1-2, Proverbs 3:5-7)

The world says s*x is just physical pleasure and to do it if you want to with whomever you want. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♂️

The Bible says it’s a sacred union between husband and wife. 👰‍♀️🤵‍♂️

Real love rejoices with truth (1 Corinthians 13:6). 👏

5️⃣ Persecution (2 Timothy 3:12, Matthew 10:22)

Jesus was honest that the Christian life is difficult and will result in persecution and trials. ✝️

If we endure to the end, we will be saved. 🥹

We all have to make a decision for the world or for God to determine our eternal destination. If we don’t make a decision for Christ, we are choosing the world. 🤔

We cannot be afraid of being different, being the salt, being the light in the world. 🚫

The world rejected Jesus, why would it applaud His followers? 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♂️

Hebrews 11:32-38, 11:7-8, 11:24-26
We will suffer, and many fathers of the faith suffered for God as well. People must’ve thought they were crazy at times! 😵‍💫

Imagine how crazy Noah looked talking about a flood in a dry land? 🌊

Imagine how crazy Abraham looked packing up his family to go somewhere new? 🗺️

Acts 5:17-40
The followers of Christ shared the Good News even when they were thrown in jail. They celebrated after they were flogged because they were suffering for Christ. ❤️

Matthew 26:29-31, Luke 8:52-53
Jesus was mocked before His death, but He was also ridiculed in life. 😣

They even tried to stone Jesus (John 8:58-59)! 💔

We are all sinners. If you think you’ve done too much, who do you think you are that your sin is somehow too much for Jesus’ blood to cover? ❔

Romans 5:20
God’s wonderful grace has become more abundant. There is nothing that cannot be covered by the blood. 👏

Romans 8:1, 1 John 1:9, Isaiah 1:18, Hebrews 7:25
There is no one God cannot save from their sins if we will only come and confess our sins to Him. 🥹

When we present the Gospel, we have to be honest about how difficult the Christian life is. ✅

If you look like the world, what difference did your salvation make? Jesus says there will be a difference in our life after we truly make our lives about Jesus. 🙂‍↕️

If you don’t look like Jesus after accepting Him, is your relationship with Him authentic? 🤔

The world says life is all about protecting ourselves and looking out for ourselves. ☝️

Faith says sometimes we walk away from what the world says is normal. 🥾

If you follow Jesus, the world may laugh. Don’t be afraid if the world doesn’t understand your dedication to Jesus. The One they laughed at is sitting at the right hand of God (Hebrews 12:1-2). 🥹

Getting Back to the Word 📖

Hebrews 4:12
When your heart is hard, you need an encounter with God and with God’s people. 🤝

Hebrews 3:7-8
The Bible warns not to harden our hearts because it makes it hard to hear His voice through the Word or the Holy Spirit. 🔇

As believers, we need to follow Jesus’ example of spending time with our Father by pursuing time in the Word. 📖

The Word of God is living because our God is the only One who is alive, and that Word brings life to us (Hebrews 4:12). 🥹

Junk food harms our bodies and doesn’t make us feel good. When we eat healthy food, it makes us feel good because it fuels us. In the same way, we have to choose what we are taking in to feed our mind, heart, and spirit. We can take junk from the world or truth and life from the Word. 🤔

John 6:33, Isaiah 55:11
God’s Word brings life and accomplishes what it says. ✅

The Word of God is active (Hebrews 4:12). We can’t just read the Bible, we have to live what it says. We need to take the Word in so we can live and speak the Word out into the world (Matthew 12:34). 🌎🌍🌏

Faith without works is dead (James 2:17). ☠️

When someone wrongs you, what comes out of your mouth? We speak what is in our heart (Matthew 12:34). 🗣️

God’s Word doesn’t just inform us, it changes us. ❤️

The Word of God convicts us. God’s conviction does so with love. 📖

The Word of God strengthens us to get us through difficult situations. It helps us persevere. When you don’t know what to do, get into the Word. 💪

The Word gives us seeds of faith. We are all given a measure of faith, and the more we practice it, the stronger it gets. 🌱

The Word encourages us when we face difficulties (Philippians 4:12, 1 John 4:4). 👏

The Word of God educates us. The Word is the source of truth we can rely on. It equips us as His people. 📚

The Word of God is sharper than a double-edged sword. A double-edged sword can be swung and cut enemies in any direction. 🗡️

When Satan tempted Jesus, He responded with the Word (Matthew 4:1-11). We have to follow His example and fight the problems we face with the Word of God. 📖

The Word of God cuts through deception, our excuses, hypocrisy, pride, and self-righteousness. 🗡️

Relationship with God and His Word changes the heart and behaviors follow. Religion wants to change behavior before the heart which is impossible. 😯

When you serve God, He will bless your desires (Matthew 6:33). 🥹

The Word pierces the soul. When we renew ourselves in the Word, it renews your soul to line up with your renewed spirit because the Word sanctifies us (Romans 12:2; 1 Thessalonians 5:23). 📖

The Word reaches the deepest parts of our hearts. Everything we do has a root reason attached to it. The Word of God will get to that root. 🌱

The Word exposes our hidden agendas, genuine faith, and secret sin. 🔎

Humans can only see outward actions, but the Word goes past the outward to the heart (1 Samuel 16:7; Hebrews 4:13). ❤️

We are to worship in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). Reading the Word is a form of worship and gives us truth so we can worship in truth. 🙌

Give the Lord your heart and ask Him about the truth of where your heart is at. Is it hard? Confused? Hurt? ❓

He can transform your heart. 👏

Sunday Morning Notes ☕️

D-O-N-E-! 😵

Have you ever felt like you were done? Like you had come to the end of yourself? 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️

It is possible to go from your place of being done to His “It is done.” 😯

Isaiah 6:1-7
When Isaiah came into the presence of our holy God, his response was grief because he was unworthy and unholy. 💔

After he is touched with the coal, Isaiah never goes back to speaking about how unworthy and unholy he is because an act of God removed his sin. 🔥

Our status is because of what God has done for us. 👏

Jesus sits on the right side of God, the side of blessing and embrace. ❤️

Pastor Brett had a vision about Jesus inviting him to sit on the right side of Jesus. He had to wrestle with shame and was comforted when Jesus told him, “It is done.” 🥹

We can come boldly before the throne of grace not because we are worthy but because He is worthy (Hebrews 4:16). 🙏

How do we get to that place? 🤔

Romans 3:9-20
First, we acknowledge that before Him, we were broken. ❤️‍🩹

The purpose of the law was to point us to the cross. It shows us that we need a Savior. ✝️

When we are under Christ, we are not condemned under the law. Without Him, we are condemned under the law. ⚖️

Jesus already freed us from our chains and we are completely holy and justified in Him and able to run into His presence. Don’t put those chains back on that He never meant for you to carry. ⛓️‍💥

Romans 3:21-26
We are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. You can’t add anything to it or take anything away from it. 🚫

Stop calling unclean what God has called clean (Acts 10:15). Stop calling unworthy what God has called worthy. It’s done. And it’s a gift that we can’t be worthy of and don’t have to earn. 🎁

When we realize that it’s a gift to receive, we will rest from our works because we are simply walking in faith with Him. 🤝

Romans 3:27-31
We go from broken to rest to belief. 🙏

The fulfillment of the law was Christ:
The law demonstrated we were broken. God’s good news is Jesus was perfect and paid the debt under the law and counted His righteousness toward us. ✝️

When we are under Christ, we are not condemned by the law, but it is easy to go back and live under the law again even though Christ has already redeemed us. 😬

He helps us live a holy life, and His blood covers us when we fail. 🥹

We are justified, and it is done. 👏

As believers we need to enforce God’s law in the world. We do that by proclaiming His Word. 🗣️

When the enemy questions how you can approach God, we speak Scripture. 📖
•We are the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21). ❤️
•We are His sons and daughters (John 1:12-13). 🥹
•We are justified not by what we do but because of Jesus’ gift to us (Romans 3:24-28). 🎁

The world says you have worth because of what you do and what you have. 💰

God says who you are is what your worth is. 🥹

It’s time to rest, believe, and declare that it is done. 👏

Sunday Morning Notes ☕️

Truth matters. 👏

Neural pathways in our brains can be created by people hurting us, and when someone else hurts us in a similar way, we are reminded of the pains that came before. It is easy to believe those neural pathways are truth. 🧠

John 8:31-32
First, we have to believe in Jesus as our Savior and Lord. ☝️

After that, the battle becomes about what we think and how we act. We can be saved and still be bound in our minds. ⛓️

We have to know the truth and that sets us free. 🙌

We sometimes accept things that are false as true when we hear them over and over again. 🔂

We must evaluate where what we believe is truth comes from. Does it come from the world or from God and His Word? 🤨

John 14:6-7
Jesus is the truth, and when we are in relationship with Him, we know both Him and Father God. ❤️

In a world that doesn’t know what love is, we have to remind people. Love is patient, kind, selfless, and correction for the protection of others (Proverbs 13:24, 1 Corinthians 13). We are to act and speak truth in love (Ephesians 4:15). 🫶

John 17:17
After we are saved, we must go through a sanctification process with truth by studying the Word. 📖

When we hear something, we test it with the Word to know where it comes from (1 Thessalonians 5:19-22). ✅

Grace redeems us, but truth changes and sanctifies us. 🙌

James 1:22-25
We must be people who hear the Word, look at ourselves, and then pursue change based on the Word. ❤️

We have to renew our soul (our emotions and thoughts) in the Word so it will align with our renewed spirit, and our physical body will follow where our soul goes (Romans 12:2, 1 Thessalonians 5:23). 📖

We have to live the truth that is eternal (2 John 1:2). We need to spend time investing in the eternal (His Word and His Kingdom) and stop being so focused on the temporary. ♾️

Jesus is truth and teaches truth, and He is eternal. Falsehoods and the people who teach them will end. 👏

John 3:33
There is not individual truths for every single person that varies. There is one truth found in Jesus that applies to everyone, and He fills a void that we all have before we meet Him. ✝️

Our job is to share seeds of truth with people and trust God to nurture that in people’s lives. 🌱

We cannot accept falsehoods as truth, and we have to love people enough not to allow other people to believe in falsehoods as truth either. We don’t have to be hateful. We share truth in love and kindness (Ephesians 4:15). 🗣️

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in truth (1 Corinthians 13:6). ❤️

We are to worship in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). To do that, we have to have the Holy Spirit and the Word so we can know truth. 🙌

We need to spend less time doomscrolling and more time in the Word. 📖
