-DON’T PANIC-

All Burundi 2020 season shipments have been loaded and exported as of today! If you’ve been with us from the start, you know this is early.

It’s been a hectic year in so many ways, but we have made some major operating improvements to fight against the unforeseen delays that COVID-19 has tacked on in addition to the realities of exporting coffee from land locked countries.
Quality has only increased and we are tasting some of the best pre ship samples we’ve ever had in Burundi. No joke.

Roasters, we are excited to see them in your hands here earlier and more fresh than ever before. Don’t sleep on the few remaining lots!

Poorly dried coffee is a major reason why many green buyers are not confident in Ugandan coffee. This is because a large majority of coffee is home processed and poorly dried or bags of wet parchment are delivered to dry mills resulting in a cardboard-y or musty taste.
ltd built Bukusu Washing Station to improve processing across the board, especially the drying stage. Here the coffee is dried in the sun for 15-20 days reaching 11.5% moisture content. We can’t wait to dip our spoons in all these lots next month to see the qualities that have been unveiled by this excellent team.

The final two containers of 2018 are moving out soon! We have only 54 bags available between 4 different lots that are coming to the USA.
These beauts are from our partners at Munkaze Washjng Station and Gitanga Washing Station. Think 🍓🍊🍏🍦🍍🍑🌺🌱!

I love this photo snapped of Ephraim from Munkaze. Full of focus, and(what I’d assume) feeling proud as we tasted some of his coffees.
In the second photo, is Salvator’s family and managing staff behind Gitanga Washing Station. This crew runs a well oiled machine from start to finish and we’re excited to be connecting their coffees to some stellar roasters in Texas.

Uganda’s main crop season has just started rolling at Bukusu.

Floating cherry(photo 1) comes first to remove the undeniable defects and then to the triage tables(2) for consistent ripeness and removal of insect damaged cherries before processing begins. These Ugandan lots are going to be the real deal.

Gitanga Washing Station reception desk. The traceability of every lot is marked right here on the station’s card and the farmer’s card to keep track. Coffee is then weighed on the hanging scale before processing begins.

Big time congratulations to Munkaze Coffee and Buja Cafe 15+ for placing 2nd with a 91.14 in the today!

We sure are proud to know and work with our friend, Ephrem Sebatigita of Munkaze Coffee Washing Station. In our recent visit to Burundi we got to spend a lot of time together and cup Munkaze’s beautiful coffees. It was clear that the Bujacafe 15+ is excellent in all they do. Ephrem’s family history goes way back in Burundi coffee production and their legacy continues on today with another great achievement.
Houston Roasters: We are headed down to Houston to share some of Munkaze’s coffees with a cupping at tomorrow. DM for details! Hope to see you all there.

We’ve been deep into cupping our pre-selected coffees from Burundi this year and we sure have found some stunners. Samples have been rolling out the door and some Texas roaster cuppings are coming up!

“Farming As Business”
Our partners .ltd are doing it big in the Manafwa District south of Mt. Elgon. This fly crop season has been a great warm up for local farmers and farmer groups to get more on the same page with Bukusu Washing Station’s quality standards.
With and at the helm, we are excited to see quality unveiled from this area like never before.
