We recently had the pleasure of providing catering and beverage services for HarperCollins Publishers’ Authors’ Day, bringing together great food, refreshing drinks and wonderful company for an occasion celebrating the world of books and storytelling.

Our team at Plate Events & Catering curated a delicious selection of sweet and savoury canapés, complemented by a full beverage service, creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere for guests to mingle, connect and celebrate.

From beautifully presented bite-sized creations and indulgent sweet treats to a glass of bubbles, every detail was thoughtfully prepared to complement the occasion.

With stunning views across Sydney providing the perfect backdrop, it was a wonderful opportunity to showcase our passion for creative cuisine, professional service and memorable hospitality experiences.

🌿✨ ATKINS’ AMBITION IS ON THE MENU! 📰👨‍🍳

We’re incredibly proud to be featured in the October 2026 edition of The Indigenous Business Review, sharing our journey, achievements and ambitions for the future!

What began in 2009 as a small catering business in Western Sydney, founded at just 19 years old alongside my mum, Jo, has grown into something far greater than we ever imagined.

Today, through Plate Hospitality Group, we’ve built a family of businesses spanning catering, events, food trucks, native Australian foods, hampers and gifting, coffee carts and hospitality.

Our journey hasn’t been without challenges. Like so many small businesses, we’ve navigated rising costs, difficult trading conditions and plenty of uncertainty. But through determination, diversification and the support of our team, clients and community, we’ve continued to grow.

As a proud Malyangapa and Barkindji man, my culture remains at the heart of everything we do, inspiring our food, storytelling and commitment to creating opportunities for First Nations people and businesses.

One of the greatest parts of this journey has been building something alongside my mum, whose dedication and support have been instrumental in everything we’ve achieved. 💛

From our beginnings in Penrith to working across Australia and internationally, we’re proud of how far we’ve come, but there’s still so much more ahead!

Good food, great music and beautiful surroundings! 🌿🎶🍔✨

Our Wilka Thalta Food Truck recently rolled into the stunning grounds of Norman Lindsay Gallery for Groove in the Garden, bringing a taste of our signature First Nations-inspired street food to a fantastic day of live music, art and community.

Set amongst the beautiful gardens of this iconic Blue Mountains destination, it was the perfect backdrop for a day of delicious food, great entertainment and relaxed vibes.

We loved serving up our flavours to festivalgoers, sharing our passion for native Australian ingredients and putting our own contemporary twist on street food favourites. We trialled a couple new items to see how they’d go including Kangaroo Con Carne Nachos and Massaman Crocodile Curry - both were a HIT!

A big thank you to the organisers and everyone who stopped by Wilka Thalta for a bite to eat! 💛

We love being part of events that bring people together through food, music, culture and community, and this one was no exception!

Today we had the pleasure of catering a beautiful shared plates lunch for Bloomberg, bringing together native flavours, seasonal ingredients and thoughtfully prepared dishes for guests to enjoy.

There’s something special about shared dining — generous plates placed at the centre of the table, encouraging conversation, connection and a relaxed dining experience.

✈️ A HISTORIC DAY FOR WESTERN SYDNEY! 🇦🇺🎉

Today marks an extraordinary milestone in Australian aviation history, with the official opening of Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport and its first flight departing for the Gold Coast at 11:00am!

For us at Plate Events & Catering, this moment is particularly special. It’s not just the opening of a new airport, but the culmination of a journey that has played an instrumental role in shaping our business and the opportunities we’ve been fortunate enough to experience.

In 2019, we were proudly awarded the tender for Catering Services associated with the Western Sydney Airport project. What followed was a long-standing relationship spanning eight years, providing our business with invaluable exposure, opportunities for growth and connections that helped set us on the trajectory we’re on today.

From catering the very first event at the opening of the Western Sydney Airport Experience Centre, through to celebrating the unveiling of the completed terminal in 2025, and now witnessing today’s official opening and inaugural flights, it’s been an incredible privilege to be part of this journey.

These photos capture just a few moments along the way, each representing another milestone in the development of this remarkable piece of infrastructure.

The Western Sydney International Airport project has been an immense undertaking, supported by the Australian and NSW Governments, and a powerful example of the opportunities that major infrastructure investment can create for local businesses, industries and communities.

As a Western Sydney-based, First Nations-owned business, we’re incredibly grateful to have been given the opportunity to contribute to a project of this significance. The exposure, relationships and experiences gained throughout this journey have had a lasting impact on our business, and we’re proud to have played our small part in something that will transform Western Sydney for generations to come.

To everyone involved in bringing this incredible vision to life, congratulations on reaching this momentous milestone!

A new home, a new chapter and plenty of delicious things to come! 🌿☕🍔✨

What a fantastic day celebrating the Grand Opening of Stockland’s Figtree Hill Display Village in Gilead, the new home of Wilka Thalta Site Kitchen!

We’re excited to be setting up shop at Figtree Hill, where Wilka Thalta Site Kitchen will be serving the growing community, residents and visitors over the next three years.

To celebrate the grand opening, Stockland generously treated the 500 attendees to a taste of what’s to come, with freshly brewed coffees, delicious hot food, sweet treats and fresh fruit, all pre-purchased for guests to enjoy throughout the celebrations.

It was a wonderful opportunity to welcome the community, meet some friendly faces and showcase the food and hospitality experiences we’ll be bringing to Figtree Hill.

A huge thank you to Stockland for the opportunity to be part of this exciting development and for supporting our First Nations-owned hospitality business.

A night of film, creativity and exceptional hospitality! 🎬🥂✨

We recently had the pleasure of providing canapé catering for the premiere of ‘In Contrast’ at the Rebel Theatre in Walsh Bay.

Set against the backdrop of Sydney’s vibrant arts and cultural scene, it was a wonderful evening bringing guests together to celebrate storytelling, creativity and the power of documentary filmmaking.

Our team was delighted to complement the occasion with a selection of beautifully presented canapés, adding a little culinary flair to a memorable evening.
