There’s something special about a shared table. Passing plates. Pouring another glass. Reaching across the table for one more bite. Stories unfolding between mouthfuls and conversations that linger long after the food has arrived. In a world that can feel increasingly busy and distracted, taking the time to sit down together is a small but meaningful act. To slow down. To put the phone away. To share good food and drink with the people you care about. To be present. Because a meal is about so much more than what’s on the plate. It’s about connection, conversation and making time for each other. And sometimes, that’s exactly what we need.

Our Early Spring Omnivore Menu main dish is dry-aged Ribeye of Beef, Grilled Over Coals, Garlic butter, Watercress sauce. Local beef ribeye is dry-aged on-site for 14–21 days, grilled over hot ironbark coals, then brushed with butter flavoured with confit garlic and anchovy. Smoky from the fire, rich from the dry ageing and deeply savoury from the garlic and anchovy butter. Served with a vibrant Watercress Sauce, made with garlic, parsley, watercress, rocket, mizuna and olive oil — including watercress and mustard greens grown right here at Frida’s Field. The dish comes with three tasting sides:
Leaf Salad, Radish, Vinaigrette - A fresh selection of leaves with finely shaved radish, dressed simply in our French vinaigrette. Crisp, bright and refreshing alongside the richness of the beef.
Grilled Broccolini, Caper & Lemon - Tender broccolini and purple sprouting broccoli are blanched before being finished over hot coals, then dressed with caper, lemon and olive oil. A little char, plenty of freshness and just the right amount of acidity.
Sweet Potato, Green Olives - Sweet potatoes from Frank Walker in Murwillumbah are slow-roasted until beautifully tender, then finished with chopped green olives, olive oil and lemon zest. Sweet, salty, earthy and bright.

A menu that brings together the things we love most about cooking at Frida’s Field — great local produce, fire, thoughtful technique and plenty of flavour.

The passion at Frida’s Field lives in the kitchen. It’s in the dedication, the care and the hard work that goes into every service. A great kitchen is a team — people communicating, backing each other up, staying focused under pressure and trusting each other to get the job done. There’s creativity and technical skill, but above all, there’s care. Care for the produce, the craft, the plate and the experience we create for our guests.

Albacore tuna, cucumber and bottarga, sea purslane, mandarin butter sauce. Chef Ally makes a 'tartare' of tuna belly mixed with olive oil, capers and pickled sea purslane (foraged from around Shaws Bay in Ballina). This is then sandwiched between discs of cucumber then wrapped with thin slices of tuna loin; and topped with a disc of pressed house-made bottarga and sea purslane. Finally, the dish is dressed with a warm butter sauce made with fermented mandarin skin grown at Frida's Field.

Frida’s Field | 3 Days Per Week | Mainly Daytime Hours

Love w**e? Love people? Love beautiful food, great hospitality and working somewhere a little bit different?

Frida’s Field is a regenerative farm, restaurant and events space in the Byron Bay Hinterland — and we’re looking for a Sommelier & Front of House Superstar to join our team.

This is a hybrid role for someone who can bring genuine w**e knowledge and enthusiasm to our guests, while also being happy to roll up their sleeves and be part of the broader front-of-house team.

The role

This is a casual role working approximately 3 days per week, with the majority of shifts being during the day 10am-5pm. You’ll be our in-house w**e expert and the go-to person for all things w**e, working closely with our kitchen and front-of-house teams to create thoughtful beverage experiences that complement our food and celebrate the Northern Rivers.

Our restaurant menu changes every six weeks, following the seasons and what’s growing on our farm and available from local producers. You’ll play a key role in developing w**e pairings for each new menu, keeping our beverage offering fresh, interesting and perfectly matched to the food. You’ll also be the go to person to help guests discover w**es they love.

And when you’re not talking w**e, you’ll be part of the FOH team — helping set up the restaurant, welcoming and serving guests, running food and drinks, clearing tables and generally doing whatever needs to be done to make service exceptional.

What you’ll be responsible for -

Developing w**e pairings for our new menu every six weeks
Maintaining and evolving our w**e list in collaboration with the management team
Being the go-to w**e expert for our guests and FOH team
Helping guests choose w**es and confidently talking about w**e
Supporting w**e education and knowledge across the FOH team
Working closely with the kitchen to understand new menus and ingredients
Providing warm, knowledgeable and genuinely memorable hospitality
Helping with all aspects of FOH service — setup, service, running food and drinks, clearing and pack-down
Being a positive, reliable and hands-on member of our team

We’re looking for someone who…
Has solid w**e knowledge and ideally sommelier or w**e industry experience
Is genuinely passionate about w**e and loves sharing that passion with others
Has great food and w**e pairing instincts
Is warm, personable and confident talking to guests
Understands that great hospitality is about making people feel comfortable, not showing off what you know
Has strong attention to detail and takes pride in what they do
Is happy to jump between sommelier duties and general FOH tasks
Enjoys working as part of a small, hands-on team
Has a positive attitude and brings good energy to the room
Is reliable, organised and calm under pressure
Why Frida’s Field?

We’re not a typical restaurant.

We’re a 120-acre regenerative farm, restaurant and events space in the Byron Bay Hinterland, and our food, w**e and hospitality are all connected to the place we call home.

You’ll be working with a team that cares deeply about great produce, thoughtful hospitality, sustainability and creating memorable experiences for our guests.

We’re looking for someone who wants to make the role their own — someone who sees an opportunity to build our w**e program, develop relationships with our customers and become an important part of the Frida’s Field experience.

📅 The details

Casual position — approximately 3 days per week — 3 days per week - Friday, Saturday & Sunday

Based at Frida’s Field, Nashua, Byron Bay Hinterland (25 minutes from central Byron Bay)
