Our dear friends, customers and partners, from Hobart, Tasmania and beyond;
We know this might come as a shock to many, but after a lot of thought and an emotional journey behind the scenes, Eric and I have made the difficult decision to bring our Bánh Mì chapter to a close.
Bánh Mì N’ Grill will be closing its doors on Saturday 31st May 2025, and we’ve chosen not to renew our lease at 42 Derwent Park Road.
When we first opened in November 2020 at our hole-in-the-wall takeaway shop, we were just 6 international students with a love for our Vietnamese food and culture, some super savings, and a dream — even in the middle of Covid. It’s been 5 years of learning, growing, and giving our all to this little business. In 2022, we opened our second store in Derwent Park, and expanded from one food van to two.
From day one, our biggest mission was simple: to introduce Bánh Mì and Vietnamese cuisine to as many people as we could across this little island.
Along the way, we got to do so much more than that — we connected with our community, shared our culture, travelled around Tasmania, and met the kindest people, incredible partners, and lifelong friends.
We’re incredibly proud of everything we’ve done — from markets to major events like Dark M**o, Taste of Summer, AgFest, Franko, Festivale, Party in the Paddock, Salamanca Market and beyond…
But with fast growth also came exhaustion, burnout, and a realisation that we needed to slow down and focus on our health and family. Therefore, although this might feel sudden, the decision has been on our minds for quite some time — but we simply hoped this day wouldn’t come so soon.
To our staff — past and present — thank you so so much for being part of our Bánh Mì N’ Grill Family. To those who stayed with us through it all, especially to the very last day, we owe this journey to you.
And to our beautiful customers, suppliers, partners and friends who’ve supported us from day one or just last week — you’ve made this ride unforgettable.
As each of us in the Bánh Mì family begins our own exciting new chapter, Eric and I will be moving interstate, to begin our next adventure and be closer to our family.
So please come by before the end of May to have your final bánh mì with us — one last ride together. We'd love to see your faces and share some hugs and laughs before we go.
♡
With all our love and gratitude,
Linh, Eric, Vee, Aares, Carl, Joyce
