The Pie Place, Coburg

The Pie Place, Coburg All products made and baked in small fresh batches throughout the day using fresh local ingredients. 100% Australian Beef.

Since 1 July, the price of beef has increased by a minimum of 22%.

That’s a significant jump for any business, but myself and my bro Dave have made a decision, and we are truely sorry to announce this. 😔

But here goes…

We’re NOT reducing the size of our pies.
We’re NOT cutting corners on quality.
And we’re clearly NOT changing our recipes that’s been trusted for over four decades.

We leave skimplation and shinkflation to those big boys.

At The Pie Place, we believe our customers deserve the same generous fillings, the same quality ingredients, and the same pies you’ve always enjoyed.

WE WILL absorb these rising costs because we’d rather protect what matters most—OUR product and YOUR experience.

Thank you for continuing to support us, YOUR local family business. Every pie you buy helps us keep doing things the right way: fresh, handmade, and with no shortcuts.

Peace. ❤️

Meet Lovely Lady,

Once every month I get a text message from her while at work asking to drop off some goodies after I knock off st 5pm.
Lovely Lady will always offer me two things, a coffee and a chat about her beloved North Melbourne footy team (not sure how I feel about the latter).

My point is, many customers have been visiting us for decades but age, unfortunately, can get the better of us.

That’s where we’re here to help. 🤟

Many of you locals have supported us over the years so I’m personally content to return the favour.
Nothing big—just something I am happy to do when I can.

If you know someone in a similar situation, or if you find yourself unable to visit us, feel free to get in touch. Here to help any local when we can.
Peace.

Ps. Put that in your pipe and smoke it UberEats. #3058

Met this lovely couple this morning, Clark and his wife Ellen.
They were on vacation all the way from Chicago.
Initially, trying to find their way to Wally World, they soon got lost and their plans were cancelled when they discovered us. 👍

Closing up shop today and had my last customer scream at me saying,, and I quote “give me fuel give me fire, give me a delicious pie that I desire”. How rude.

Our Premier knocks on doors in Bendigo East in a feeble attempt to talk about politics, Victoria’s budget and trains ‘n s**t.

Tuesday, after work, I’ll knock on your door and drop off a FREE family steak pie and family apple pie to one lucky family from Coburg, Essendon, Airport West or Pascoe Vale who is need of a family feed 👍.

She may run this State,
But Tuesday arvo I’ll be running Coburg’s unofficial free dinner service 🍽️

Who, out there, needs a free family dinner, on us?

So Australia Federal debt has exceeded $1 trillion.

Treasurer says “tough decisions” were made. Economists say “structural challenges remain.” Reserve Bank says “uncertain outlook.”

I ain’t no economist, therefor not one to presumptively economise, but I’ve got a simpler plan to get us out of this mess, after watching the Federal Budget on the telly for 18 minutes.

Step 1: Everyone buys a pie from us.
Step 2: Economy fixed.

Why it works:
Australia’s debt: $1,000,000,000,000 plus.
Our pie: $6.80

ROI on pie: Immediate. Hot. No Senate inquiry required. A smile upon service.

ROI on budget: Pending. A work in progress. Check back in 4 election cycles. Bear with me.

The government prints money and calls it “fiscal policy.”
We bake pastry and call it LUNCH.

Doing my bit for GDP.

Sincerely,
- Justin
The next federal Treasurer.

Coburg Council minutes have just been leaked:
DATE; 28th April.
(All council members in attendance.)

Council Agenda Item 1: Address the devastating undersupply of jewellery stores.

Council Agenda Item 2: Determine if The Pie Place counts as a jewellery store yet because it has shiny flakey gold encrusted pastry.

Resolution on above Agenda passed (6:04pm;
ALL pies from The Pie Place are officially now classified as “edible gemstones” for planning purposes.

Locals relieved. Finally we can tell tourists Coburg is famous for something other than trams and 24,263 places to resize your wedding band.

Quick update.
Further to my last post, I’ll like to give a shoutout to a fair few of our customers, who, in the last week, have made other fellow customers walk away with a free feed.
They, off their on back, paid it forward. Handed over some cash for the next customer.

1st one, name unknown, and this absolutely astounded us. A bloke who bought two pies and handed over a $50 note, the next three meals were on him (this young chap, was a legend!) sorry mate, I didn’t personally serve you, but you deserve a gold star!!!

JOSHUA and his missus, who gave a $5 note and feed an elderly lady a steak pie. Champs!
BRUNO, who paid for his pie, told us to keep the change and give to the next customer. Champ # 2
GRANT and his lovely wife, handing over cash and told us to feed the next customer. Lovely couple!!

PATRICK, dropped $20 for a lady who ordered a family steak pie!
Onya!

MICHELLE, $20, she feed three young blokes who were up for a couple of pie and desserts
JIMMY, who was waiting in line, was served after a lady…while scrambling in her purse, he gave a lady $9, for her egg and bacon pie - told her to keep the change!

JULZ, who shouted a the next customer a pie, a sausage roll and a vanilla slice.

…and plenty more!

What struck me was the amount of people who, when told about customers paying for their food said “I’m okay, give it to someone who needs it”

My previous post didn’t advocate for customers to Pay it Forward, but they all felt the need to - and that, ladies and gentlemen, is a true indication of the awesome and wholesome spirit that is truely out there. 🤙

This post is not about US but them, they are some awesome people who, during the s**t time, decided upon themselves to help others.

Thank you, Josh, Patrick, Bruno, Grant, Michelle, Jimmy, Julz, Rosa, Rocky, Amelia and Jacinta.
