On this table, with his own hand, our Founder Merrill J. Fernando, wrote the word ‘Dilmah’ for his brand of single-origin Ceylon teas. It signified so much; coined from the names of his two sons, Dilhan and Malik, and ingrained with a mission to make business a matter of human service.

This valued table was recently restored with care and respect, knowing it carries more than wood and time; it carries beginnings and futures. Today, it returns to its rightful place in our Dilmah Chairman’s office, ready to witness new chapters and a legacy passed from one generation to the next.

In this special moment, we remember where Dilmah comes from; from family, from purpose, from the heart.

Leopards are truly special. Sharing our highland tea estates with these majestic creatures is a humbling reminder of our responsibility to protect them.

At the heart of Dilmah Tea is a community of 45,000 dedicated tea garden workers and their families. Our commitment to our Founder’s philosophy of kindness to people and planet begins here.

One of our longest running initiatives is our scholarship programme for the children of our staff. Over the years, we have empowered over 750 youngsters with their educational dreams from preschool onwards and watched over 440 of them continue their higher education through university.

Today, it is with humility and pride we acknowledge that our plantation education alumni include 151 graduates who are now serving their communities as medical professionals, legal experts, and educators.
